I for one am always exposed to really terrible games, that despite what other people tell me, I can't see the appeal of them.

The number one culprit?

Prototype. I get it, you get to run around a huge city, and kill people, and do all kinds of "cool" and "neat" tricks to navigate the world. It's almost like these people never played any of the admittedly *at least In my opinion* better Spiderman games for the PS2. Seriously, he can pretty much do everything Alex Mercer can, just better. Yeah, yeah theres no huge fountains of blood, and he can't take control of bodies, but at least the game play was fun, and stayed fresh as long as you took some time to continue story mode.

All I can see when I played Prototype was really outdated controls, terrible destruction mechanics seriously you spent the entire time punching cars, tanks and helicopters, to get some hulking pile of rubble ala GTA 3. The story was also abysmal I could not for the life of me imagine myself caring enough about the story to ever play it for anything else but the occasional moment where you can throw some shit around, and pretty much wreck havoc. Problem is? Every single GTA game does it better, just with out the special powers. Not to mention, when I finally got to the "oh so cool mutants" it was pretty much me doing the same exact thing I do against the tanks and APC's the target is just moving *for once*.

So, any other terrible games you can't see the appeal of. Also, try and post at least a paragraph about why this game is terrible. That way we don't end up with all the people who pop in just to say LULZ HALO LULZ.

Call of Duty World at War 2, its just cheap, and Ice Ts voice grates on my nerves, why would I want it.

I'll start off with the obvious one.
Modern Warfare 2.
I just never saw the appeal. It's completely unbalanced (weapon wise), bug laden, terrible community, and just plain bland.
I've always hated the CoD games after MW 1. Never understood why people liked it, and called other games like DAO, Deus Ex and TF2 bad, without even trying them.

Modern Warfare 2... i played MW1 to death.. they made MW2... didnt see the fun in it, which is just a repetition of MW1 imo :/

Team Fortress 2.. well.. i just think its boring and the gameplay is to slow for some reason, and yes ive tried it and i got it on my steam from the orange box and got a friend keep trying to get me to play it again...but i just cba. (prepares shield for fanboy rage)

Pokemon

I have mixed feelings, but I just don't like it. At times, it's fun to play... but most of the time, it's irritating.

The random wild encounters can sometimes get to be a pain in the ass, especially in caves.

Alot of the battles feel like grinding and nothing much.

Legendaries are just to hard to catch for Pokemon that aren't even that amazing.

Super Effective just annoys me when 20 levels of difference mean squat, 'cause of attribute.

Getting lost/unable to continue the story.

I wish there was more direction and hints at times.

Things I like though, the Pokemon are cool.

The battles that are part of the story are fun.
The stories usualy fun to play out.
Capturing a Legendary feels so good.
Flying is godly.

But yeah, to me the griding and cheap ''super effective'' blows that knock me out in one hit have just made me jaded towards these games.

I hadn't realized he had anything to do with it. I rented it and played to about the second level. That's when I realized it was just Modern Warfare in World War 2. I just can't stand world war 2 games. With the sole exception of Wolfenstein(The original one of course. I wouldn't touch the remake of the same name on a dare). Also Grand Theft Four for it not even attempting to be fun.

Any Call of Duty Game Released since Modern Warfare. They're good for a laugh when you have friends over, but not nearly as good as people make them out to be.

Halo 2 and 3: Horrible, Horrible, HORRIBLE versions of a game that was good. The First Halo was amazing, it rolled off it's throne of glory High atop Mt. Fuji when the Sequels started coming. I'm not gonna say anything about Reach, though, since I haven't played it yet.

Half Life 2: I don't actually hate this one, I just think it's overrated. Mind you, I did show up to that party late so that'll be a large chunk of it.

Any Guitar Hero or Rock Band game: Because if I wanted to be in a band, I'd learn how to play the Electric Guitar that's sitting in my room at home.

God of War 1/2/3. Halo 2/3/Reach

GoW is just a bunch of qte's and a rather boring story.

Halo is just a very samey story. The first was good, after that it was boring.

Modern Warfare. I've got a long-standing arrangement with FPS games that if they stop shooting me in the head, I'll play them again...but I played 3 rounds of Modern Warfare where I a) got killed more times than the rest of both teams combined and b) first earned the nickname "rocket magnet." I don't think I need to go into more detail.

How about.. Dragon age orgins? I hated that game! The gameplay was horrific, the story was bollocks and the characters and customisation is nil! I hate rpgs now a day with no beast / anthro races!

Ha ha, seriously guys, this is pathetic. When I saw the title of the thread, I quickly improvised a drinking game involving the number of COD/ Halo mentions. There's no way we're going to do it though because we would get absolutely tanked.

I know it's fun to be all whiny and anti-establishment but eventually, you have to face the facts that no one gives a shit about what comes out of your angsty little pie-holes. These games are popular because they are good, solid fun. Do you honestly think that millions upon millions of people are going to throw away their money on a "bad" game?

All of you are entitled to your "rebellious" opinions but money doesn't lie.

Minecraft probably feels like that because that's all it really is right now.

OT: Counter-Strike, you either get headshots, get really close and do bodyshots. Or die. Gungame's good for a laugh though.

I often wonder how many times this forum has seen the old "games you think are overrated" thread.

I'm guessing it's somewhere in the high hundreds.

Guitar Hero 3.
Everyone seems to think of it as the best guitar hero game, but I didn't get its appeal.
Probably because of the set-list...
