1. Which of the guys can't get a girl?
Seriously, Howard is married, Lennard is in a relationship with Penny, was in a serious relationship with Pria and had some flings with even more attractive women and even Sheldon is in a relationship.
so he is with penny now?...well great, they still played that old joke though
and all those other stupid steryotypes....its just...old...annoying..not funy
[quote/]2. I mean the making fun of "nerds" e.g. liking collectors editions, by having the main characters point out that some of those are quite ridiculous, which they are, and then proceed to buy them anyways.
And I can relate to that.
I like buying Collector's Editions and special editions and first editions despite the fact they usually do not enhance the playtime I will get out of a game by a great margin, but like the TBBT-guys, I enjoy having collectors items.
and theres still bad jokes...such as "Dungeons and dragons..he said dungeons and dragons LAWL"
[quote/]And I do not think any of what is shown on screen is mean towards anyone.
I feel as though we are laughing "at" the nerds rather than with them...that dumbass penny is whom we are suposed to realte too...eh
this post here is really interesting and sums up thease things better than I could http://butmyopinionisright.tumblr.com/post/31079561065/the-problem-with-the-big-bang-theory not saying you cant enjoy the show or that you should agre..but its a good read
[quote/]If you feel offended by the show, I encourage you to change the channel, because I could not give less of a damn and will continue to enjoy the show.
ooooooohhh!! [i/]I just got told XD
You want some Aloe?
Yeah, that was a wicked burn, I mean you are part of the group, you know how we roll.
You would have to elaborate on the stupid stereotypes for me, since I am not quite clear on what you refer to.
The dumb blonde, the shy nerds, the creepy sexual-deviant nerds, the socially incompatible ultra-genius or the slightly awkward indian suffering from selective mutism.
Oh, or the christian fundamentalist mother.
And I really don't see the problem with them mentioning Dungeons and Dragons. I enjoy the game, I played a few rounds myself, enough to understand the rules and set-up, so when they make a reference to something I enjoy and have a basic understanding of, why would that upset me?
But what I do enjoy most are the physics jokes, because well, physics are nice and I get to feel smart for getting them.
Now, after reading your link:
First: I also enjoy community.
Second: I could never relate to Penny, why Lennard settled for her is beyond me as seh is annoying as all hell and stupid to go along with that.
Third: My selective hearing might be a problem, since I really completely tune out the laughin audience, so the mentioned D&D laughs flew right past me, as I did not notice them, since I completely ignore the laugh tracks. As in until I read the article I forgot it even existed.
Shame on me for that one.
Fourth: With the laugh track back in mind, I get where you are coming from and of course I understand why you would not like the series, since apparently there are some examples of nerds being laughed at, but as I said, I completely ignore the audience laughs, which means that I probably have a very different view of the show.
