and thats exactly what people want...they want to hate..they want to feel superior...thats why relatiy TV exists..I get the impression its actually pretty self aware

reality TV is just dumb eye candy...harmless

I love this. I love this so much.

I don't really hate the big bang theory, I'm infact neutural towards it, but I hate how it so deeply drives stereotypes of nerd culture. The very rare funny culture reference isn't worth it to me.
I shall go out my way and say it:
I really, genuinely like The Big Bang Theory.
The jokes are usually funny, especially the physics-jokes and the nerd stuff does not irk me even in the slightest, because sometimes they truly are spot on.
There, I said it. You may crucify me now.

Revolution. My God that show is awful. Really can't express in words how much I hate it. The first episode was the funny kind of horrible but after that the novelty wore off.

It's a movie, but... It's laughably bad to watch, until you realize, it's actually well done underneath.

Look for... "Rubber"

Agreed, I honestly don't see what is so appealing about Jersey Shore. I'm so happy they cancelled it :)

OT: Id recommend any reality show on Arena e.g. the real housewives of Orange County. You cant go wrong with that crap and if you enjoy it their is something really wrong with you (sorry if I offended anyone)

Might I suggest NAVY COPS... AKA NCIS...not a terribe show but broadly drawn characters and outlandish plots give lots of riffing material.

There was also one called "Sexy Doctor Investigators" or as the network insisted on calling it Medical Investigation, (my name is much better) it ran for one season in 2004/05 and was just ludicrous.

Well this is usually where I pick the Big Bang Theory but that has made people have a go at me in the past so it is at least divided opinion on whether it's good.

2 Broke Girls however...

Dude. Rubber is the best film in the Universe..I've not watched it yet, but the trailer and Synopsis is enough to confirm this

1. Which of the guys can't get a girl?
Seriously, Howard is married, Lennard is in a relationship with Penny, was in a serious relationship with Pria and had some flings with even more attractive women and even Sheldon is in a relationship.

2. I mean the making fun of "nerds" e.g. liking collectors editions, by having the main characters point out that some of those are quite ridiculous, which they are, and then proceed to buy them anyways.
And I can relate to that.
I like buying Collector's Editions and special editions and first editions despite the fact they usually do not enhance the playtime I will get out of a game by a great margin, but like the TBBT-guys, I enjoy having collectors items.
And now tell me that "nerds" don't like collectors editions and special whatnots.
[NOTE: I never said it was an exclusive nerd trait, but "collecting" certainly is a part of nerd culture that should not be neglected. I am aware however, that sports fans collect stuff as well, as do guitarists, as do most people.]

And I do not think any of what is shown on screen is mean towards anyone.
If you feel offended by the show, I encourage you to change the channel, because I could not give less of a damn and will continue to enjoy the show.

The show is not too bad, at least when compared to everything else on tv. There is maybe a handful of shows that are actually good with well defined characters and a story.

As for the joke, I don't think the point is he doesn't know its better than Vista. I interpreted it to mean more that sheldon doesn't like change from stuff that was more complicated to less complicated cause he has ego issues and sort of defines himself by being able to do/use things that are hard. Which in all honesty as far as stereotypes go is fairly accurate of some people that would maybe be called "nerds". If anything just browse over to any videogame forum where the sequel worked out a lot of bugs and lost some of the annoying fine tuning, and read all the threads about how its killing the game and other nonsense.

As for the stereotypes. Honestly you'd have to be stupid to think everyone is like that, and the people that do aren't worth your time genuinely.

OT: Can't think of any now, but I'm out the door. While post more maybe when I figure out which shows are bad.

Taco, my main man, have I ever steered you wrong before? Everybody knows if you want to watch Bad TV then you should see Nantucket!

It's a shame Manimal isn't on Netflix as that is soooo bad it's a classic. Or Automan... urgh Automan was so fun.

Just be sure you don't tap in Bonanza - we all know that is the greatest show on earth.

Knightrider and Air Wolf are both on Netflix and they are amazing (by my standards).

You want some Aloe?

Yeah, that was a wicked burn, I mean you are part of the group, you know how we roll.

You would have to elaborate on the stupid stereotypes for me, since I am not quite clear on what you refer to.
The dumb blonde, the shy nerds, the creepy sexual-deviant nerds, the socially incompatible ultra-genius or the slightly awkward indian suffering from selective mutism.
Oh, or the christian fundamentalist mother.
And I really don't see the problem with them mentioning Dungeons and Dragons. I enjoy the game, I played a few rounds myself, enough to understand the rules and set-up, so when they make a reference to something I enjoy and have a basic understanding of, why would that upset me?

But what I do enjoy most are the physics jokes, because well, physics are nice and I get to feel smart for getting them.

Now, after reading your link:
First: I also enjoy community.
Second: I could never relate to Penny, why Lennard settled for her is beyond me as seh is annoying as all hell and stupid to go along with that.
Third: My selective hearing might be a problem, since I really completely tune out the laughin audience, so the mentioned D&D laughs flew right past me, as I did not notice them, since I completely ignore the laugh tracks. As in until I read the article I forgot it even existed.
Shame on me for that one.
Fourth: With the laugh track back in mind, I get where you are coming from and of course I understand why you would not like the series, since apparently there are some examples of nerds being laughed at, but as I said, I completely ignore the audience laughs, which means that I probably have a very different view of the show.

Don't fight over a show that's constantly repeated on E4. Put on some bad TV and drown it all out, watch some Dallas or something and laugh at the Oscar rewarding drama.
Bad TV is supposed to bring us together not make us hate each other.

You need to believe in bad TV to truly become part of it.

Glenn Martin, DDS.

I've watched a lot of TV in my time, but never anything even close to how bad this show was. It's a claymated family sitcom trying to be edgy in the vein of Family Guy. The only problem is, it isn't funny at all. Say what you will about Family Guy, but it has its moments, even if you aren't a fan. The kicker? Glenn Martin's first few episodes had a laugh track.

If I might ask, what's so bad about it?

I actually enjoy it. It's not my favorite show of all time, not by a long shot. But I think it's good. All I can really see, as far as being bad, is that it's a bit predictable.
