Right, this is just getting sad that three different people have replied to me so far, you two twice.
Yes, it was a joke. If someone says they're objectively right when it's clearly a subjective case they're either a **** who won't change his opinion or he's joking.
In either case it's pointless to reply. So please learn to understand a clear joke.
What the hell man? First off, I only replied once. Second, I knew you were joking, but you were doing a shitty job of it. I suggested some pointers so you wouldn't sound like an idiot, and now you're directing your attacks at me, even though I mostly agree with you.

Fine, see if I try to help you again.
Alright, I apologize.
I just got about 3 or 4 messages in a short span and assumed that everyone was in that sort of hive mind mentality that seems to show up in these sorts of threads.
Again, sorry.
Apology accepted. Now go yell at the guy that deserved it.

If you feel like treading into precarious waters, I recommend Jersey Shore. Most people I know who have seen it wish it a thousand deaths upon a thunderbolt Zeus hated enough to never use. <3
I'm voting for this and everything like it and everything it has spawned. It's very existence fills me with angry words.
Hahahaha. Yes, many angry words!

Why don't you like the show though?
The very idea of it, first off it shows one of the aspects of human nature that's just stupid and douchey and secondly it glorifies it.

Either major Pro-Wrestling show is a good choice, since they operate on moon logic.
Moon logic with brain damage.
Which pro wrestling show?
I know which one you meant (WWE, because they're the ONLY choice for wrestling on cable TV and no one likes TNA on Spike) but not all pro wrestling is the same. It'd be like if we criticized all movies for having too many explosions and for not treating female characters right.
For the purposes of mocking/riffing for fun, either WWE or (TNA)Impact will work.
Both shows are a revolving door of idiocy.

For the better part of the last two years, my friends and I would play a drinking game once a week based on TNA. Though we gave up watching either of those since they seemed to be repeating the same block of stupid month after month.
(though methinks a big part of it is my friend "discovering" Dr Who in his OnDemand backlog.

I can only imagine the hate towards The Big Bang Theory comes from people whose nerves have been struck. Learn to laugh about yourselves!

We've been laughing about Joey Tribiani for being dumb, George Costanza for being short, Ray Barone for being a mama's boy, Jack MacFarland for being faggy, Michael Scott for being a loser, Niles Crance for being a snob, Al Bundy for selling shoes, Cliff Clavin for making up stories.......

But God forbid we make fun of someone for being a Nerd.
I dont find mean spirited "comedy" allt hat fun to watch

its because the "jokes" (or lackthereof) are atupid and unfunny and made to apeal to the masses, not "nerds"

those "sterotypes" werent funny then and they arent funny now

I'd say go with Two and a Half Men. Granted, nothing much has changed script-wise since Charlie Sheen's tiger blood fuelled departure, but any and all entertainment value has left with Mr. Sheen.

Also, the 'funeral service scene/episode' marked a new low in sitcom entertainment... and, since then, the standard has been lowered by pretty much every single episode. It's a train wreck. And it's got Ashton Kutcher.

Well this is usually where I pick the Big Bang Theory but that has made people have a go at me in the past so it is at least divided opinion on whether it's good.

2 Broke Girls however...
Hey, Kat Denning's glorious assets make up for the horribleness of that show :p.

OT: Any of those "The Real Housewives" shows, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, 16 and Pregnant, Toddlers and Tiaras, and Honey Boo Boo.

two and a half men (alongside BBT) is one of those shows I physically can't watch...

hateful, unfunny and I daresay a little sexist...the only remotly redeeming thing about it is Berta the housekeeper

I agree, I can see The Big Bang Theory not being to everyone's tastes but you can't possibly call it a bad show. Yes we are laughing at the 'nerds' but they aren't meant to be realistic representations of the stereotype, they are all unrealistically extreme cases. I mean come on, one of the characters has a medical condition where he physically cannot talk in the presence of women unless he is drunk? Anyone who is offended by this show is taking it way too seriously. Not everyone will enjoy the humor but its a great show and does what it does well. This show isn't out to get anyone.

On topic, I can only repeat whats already been said and say Jersey Shore or Honey Boo Boo. From afar Gilmore Girls seems like utter trash but I haven't actually watched it so I can't make a fair judgement.

how i met your mother. Excruciating.

Btw, my 2 cents on BBT - I like it a lot, and I think it celebrates nerd culture and doesn't make fun of it.

If it had had that kind of attitude then it would have portrayed Leonard overcoming his 'nerdism' to become a social person before he got the girl. You know, in the same vein that patronizing media often depicts the 'good at heart' wild guy becoming civilized so he deserves the good he finally gets. (like Friday in Robinson Crusoe).

Bad things get good ratings. It's like a car crash I think. :X
Yeah I think that's why most people watch it, just in an ironic sense. Because then it can become quite funny but I'd rather it just faded into obscurity instead of becoming part of our culture.

Yes there was really a sitcom about Hitler.
That was actually brilliant in a way. It was taking the piss out of the awful sitcoms of the time. The clichés, the clumsy handling of issues like race, the obnoxious laugh track, the stupid theme song, the awful jokes, they're all there for a reason. Heil Honey is awful because it's supposed to be, and the offence it caused means that it is a success as a statement. Nobody realized it, though, because BOO, HITLER!
If they were able to make a genocidal maniac funny (which I imagine is diffoccult), I think people would give them props for that.
But they couldn't, so we wont.

So have you considered watching any indies, like PWG, Chikara (really good recently), or Resistance Pro?

No. My TV availability is quite limited and I'm not really into Pro-Wrestling much to begin with.

It may be too late. I see so many shows like that pop up, I just don't bother with TV now as a result. >.>;
Which is why we must become Luddite's and destroy all the TVs. I just hope guidos and other people that make me despair for humanity look back at what they were like and change and help their children be better people...or else.

I have to suggest Steven Seagal: Lawman from A&E. This show is a wonderfully bad version of reality shows like cops except with a B-grade film actor as the main character. It has to be seen to be believed.

You can try The River, it was on ABC a little while back. I watched most of the first and AFAIK only season because I was bored and didn't have much better to do, parts of it seemed like they had potential, and it was pretty clearly trying to be the next Lost and I didn't want to be left out for the next half a decade if it succeeded. To top it off 90% of it was done "found footage" style.

Like I said, the only choice as far as cable goes is the WWE. None of the companies I mentioned are on TV right now, so it's all internet.
