Bad year in Gaming?

I don't know why, but after everyone talking about how great 2007 was for gaming, it seems like 2008 just hasn't measured up. Maybe I'm missing something, and maybe its just because I haven't found games I absolutely love like Assassin's Creed or Mass Effect, but that's the way I feel. Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

i think it was one of the beast years in gaming. it might not look like it because all the games came out at once.

it was kinda bland with the sequels, but look on the bright side they were really good sequels.

Yeah, that's about it, except the new PoP was good. I'm also ashamed to admit i like the new Cod, but not as much as I did Cod4. And I thought NMH was late last year?

I disagree. I had a great year with the games released. I totally enjoyed Fable 2, Saints Row 2, etc, etc. I'm less optimistic about 2009

How about the PC version of GTA IV? It's got Mods so that should give lasting appeal.

Saints Row 2 also had co-op which is nice for a game like that. I haven't played Fable 2 but people seem to say it lived up to expectations. Gears of War 2, and Resistance 2 seem to please the crowd as well, though I don't really care for either of them.

It's kinda tough thinking of games now that I'm trying to "review the year". I also like Clear Sky more than most people did but the popular opinion seems to be "not as good as original" though I disagree for the most part.

Time to meditate and think up a list.

(Oh yeah, I liked Dead Space too, nothing amazing but hey, threw it in there).

EDIT: WHen was the enhanced edition of The Witcher released? It's not a "new game" but it was one hell of an update and IMO should have honorable mention at least.

I do think that there was a few experiments and too many sequels this year, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. Lets hope 09 will bring more cheer good sirs!

That would make six games wouldn't it?
I liked this year in gaming, MGS4 was amazing and so was valkyria chronicals. There were plenty of good games this year, I dont know why they don't shout about how good this year was.
