For the past few years, I have noticed that my hair is, without a doubt, thinning. I fear that looking at my father, a veritable chrome-dome, is like gazing into my own future. I am sure that within a decade or so (I'm 24, btw) I will be assuredly and undeniably bald.

I am especially dissapointed because I had heard that an indicator of whether you will become bald or not is the state of your mother's father's scalp. My maternal grandfather, nearly 80 years of age, has a thick, full head of hair. So I should too when I'm 80, right? Wrong.

Maybe I'll try out Rogaine or something. If I do go noticeably bald, I will definitely shave all the hair off my head.

So fellow Escapists, are you starting to go bald? Do you gnash your teeth and rail against your fate, or have you made peace with it? Are you taking any measures to try and prevent it, and is it working? Do you follow the "Mother's Father" rule or not?

(This is mainly directed at the males, I guess. But women do bald as well, just not as commonly I believe. So you ladies can join in if you wish)

I can only hope to look this cool after my hair is gone

I'm 16 and my hair is ridiculously thick. Seriously, I mean I ask for it to be thinned when ever it gets cut, but its still afro-like most of the time.

At least your 24.
I'm 16 and the baldness is coming. Pretty much every male relative of mine is bald, so I've got no hope.

I'm 24 and my hair is still rather thick. However should I start balding, out comes the razor, and viola! I turn into a cancer patient. Being bald really won't bother me. I'll just be more vulnerable to cold.

My father is in his 50's and still has a decent amount of hair. Bit of a bald patch at the back, but I could live with it. My mothers, father still had enough hair to warrant owning a comb when he died...so I shall stay hopeful. I'm 22 though and I am not showing any signs of thinning.

Don't gloat. My hair was super thick. Think Soundgarden era Chris Cornell. Now it's all gone. The trick is to shave it to the scalp and grow a fuck off Viking beard.

Having said that, if they invented a cure tomorrow, I'll be straight down the chemist!

My hair is stupidly thick, when it is fairly long, it takes about 2 hours to dry.

I have a feeling baldness will not be a problem because my dad has thinner hair than me and shows very little sings of being bald(he is 66)

Well, my great grandmother went grey at a strikingly young age...
That's all I'm worried about. Fortunately for me, though, that seems like a random occurance; no one else in the family to my knowledge has had the same thing.

Oh, and Mr.Clean is a genie.
