System of a Down, need I say more?

I should also really try some more Autopilot Off songs, apparently they were good before they went on indefinite hiatus.

Pantera... Phil was a dick, and dimebag got shot by a psychotic douche, worst end to a damn sick metal band
This! RIP Darrell, we all miss you. Though his death did spark the resurgence of Machine Head... for that I am thankful.

OT: Fear Factory, RATM, Evanescence, Creed, System of a Down

Agreed, and on that note I can safley say that I am a fan of Metallica, they do not suck/lack skill/have bland muzak, they fucking rock in my eyes, respect that. (just a message to everyoner here who hates metallica)
I think I speak for most people here when I say that my hatred of Metallica is not unjustified. They opened my eyes to a world full of epic riffs, well structured and thought out songs and unparalleled skill and aggression. And then they released Load.... which contained none of their aforementioned awesome.

I don't think it's my fault that I hold Metallica up to the lofty standards that they set themselves by releasing such masterpieces as Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. They just don't seem to try as hard now that they're successful and for that reason I hate them.

Torn between maudlin of the Well and Acid Bath.
You sir, have your shit in the bag.
I saw Kayo Dot recently, a couple of weeks ago in London supporting Jesu. They played the Tartar Lamb stuff though cos a bunch of the band got denied entry to the UK.
I've never EVER seen tighter live musicians though. Toby and Mia's on stage chemistry is mindblowing.
And maudlin of the Well really are where it's at. Bath is one of the finest albums ever written EVER.

EDIT: Forgot to answer the actual question the topic is asking.
Mr. Bungle (despite the fact Mike Patton is a collosal douchebag, I want another Disco Volante NOW plz!)
Painkiller (the finest John Zorn project!)
Sikth (one of the only metal bands that still tickles my pickle)

Beatles.

What? Just because I wasn't born then doesn't mean I can't wish they never broke up?

Even though they're 'back'
Welcome to the Escapist. Watch for the falling hammers and avoid religion and Halo threads.
I totally agree. Though the roof top concert was definetly a great send off.
Though I have to wonder, if they still were together today, would they still be turning out as amazing music? Don't get me wrong they are absolute genuis' but I mean you think they'd still be so original and inventive and prolific after almost 50 years?

The O'Hooligans. Seeing as the Pogues got back together, now I just have to see them before they toss McGowan out on his ass again.

Kyuss.
Soundgarden.
Mother Love Bone.
Temple of the Dog (They were a tribute act but, I would love to see them live)
Blind Melon.
Suede.

I miss '90s music.
Soundgarden is dearly missed, especially since Cornell has gone and become a commercial whore. Oh, well. Temple of the Dog? Hell yeah.

Blind Melon was a great band. Sad that Hoon mistook cocaine for icing sugar...

I miss Staley's Alice in Chains.

And Big Wreck, a great hard rock Canadian band. Only two albums, sadly. Bad advertizing and choice of singles killed them on their second CD... Sad, sad, sad. Well Ian Thornley (lead singer) is still around doing his thing, but it'll never be the same as BW...

Probably Death From Above 1979 or Jeff Buckley (RIP).

Jesus Christ, man, you made me think they've split up. My heart nearly stopped. :/

SOAD, Led Zepplin, Beatles.

Kinda half off topic, but I also wish Cliff Burton never died as well.
