I would say if there were multiple keyboards n' such, ELP. Strings: ELO. I agree that with a whole bunch of guitars: Iron Maiden (Skynyrd had 3 so maybe that too?)

If somebody would be crazy enough to actually try a big band music game, with all 18 controllers plugged in at once (19 if there's aux. and vibes) then anything of that genre, including Gordon Goodwin.

No one's mentioned Blind Guardian?

I'd love to play a rhythm game with Nightfall in Middle Earth.

Iron Maiden & Judas Priest are the two largest bands I can think of that I absolutely adore, so naturally they would be good candidates for a music game of their own.

Michael Jackson, if that counts. I'd never stop playing Rock Band if I could do "Beat It" or "Strange in Moscow".

There really aren't really many bands im into that have had a long enough career to warrant an entire game to themselves. Though there are of course Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper. Maybe Machine Head or Fear Factory.
Though id LOVE to see a "Rock Band: Lamb of God", probably the only thing that would make me consider buying a whole new set of cheaply-made plastic instruments.

The only band existing without one that I feel deserves one right now is The Who. Perhaps the third most influential band of all time behind The Stones and The Beatles.

I'd also like to say that I don't feel any modern bands should even be considered. These kinds of games should be (and so far for the most part have been) exclusive to bands that changed music. Avenged Sevenfold would almost make the list, but they have not been around long enough for their legacy to be solidified.

Same for Slipknot and (with painful admittance) Beck.

REM would be interesting but a lot of their stuff from the ninties isn't really well known.

Led Zeppelin all the way.

and another, Gorillaz.

The only bad thing would maybe be not enough guitar in their songs.

I think a Clutch [http://pro-rock.com/index.cfm] version of Rock Band or Guitar Hero would be amazing. They're career spans nearly 20 years, and they have over a dozen albums, so there's plenty of material. And it ranges from hardcore to metal to hard rock to classic rock to blues, so there's bound to be something for just about everyone to enjoy. Talented musicianship, great riffs, and creative lyrics would make it really enjoyable to play and listen to. It would be amazing.
