I have a very shallow yet frequently-listened to pool of J-Pop on my MP3 player, mostly Vocaloid music and anime songs. No one ever expects it; they see me more as a rocker, considering my hair style.

Depends I suppose. I think the large amount of Green Day on my iPod might surprise some, them and Four Year Strong. Also, having Between the Buried and Me and Circa Survive near each other is interesting. Or, you know, Gorillaz.

I mean, I don't have a particular appearance pointing me towards a certain clique, so I'm not sure what people would expect me to like. My iPod is mostly metal, so I suppose once you get to know me it's the more non-metal stuff that stands out. Before that, I don't come off as much of a metalhead though, so Opeth isn't exactly what people expect.

Most of my t-shirt collection consists of metal/ punk/ rock shirts so I get some odd looks when I go to a hip hop show wearing a Death shirt.

My friends found it shocking that I listened to a band named Kutless who are a christian rock band, seeing as I am a complete metal head they find it strange that I like that slower type of music.

LMFAO, but only for Party Rock. I have a massive love for Muse, John Murphy, and all that is epic, but it's just so damn catchy and fun. Oh and My Chemical Romance, as I'm a rather happy person.

Hopefully[footnote]They're not exactly the most heterosexually-aligned band, the name itself is a reference to lesbian sex after all[/footnote], people don't take me as the sort of guy to listen to Scissor Sisters. But Goddamnit, there's nothing like dancing round your room and screaming the lyrics in the highest voice you can muster.
My sister used to blast that in her car all the time so.... I CAN'T DECIDE WHETHER YOU SHOULD LIVE OR DIE!

I've run into some people expecting me to listen to stuff that I absolutely do not. A friend I met in college really expected me to be into Rush for some reason, but I think they're incredibly cheesy.

I have long hair and a beard so I occasionally run into people who expect me to be a dead head. Again, not really a fan.

So I guess based on those assumptions, everything I listen to is something people don't expect.

But I don't feel like dancing...

OT: Classical music probably.

For me, people seeing me as a "METT-HULL" kind of guy, it would probably be something like The Police, or Robert Cray.
humm, love me a bit of Robert Cray!
but seriously I have the same problem, people expect me to like all these emo "I wear more make up than my sister" bands. I listen to blues and jazz, the likes of Jimmy Vaughn, Robert Johnson, Skip James, John Coltrane, Oscar Peterson .... normally whilst blowing something up in a game!

Scissor Sisters (most of their songs)
Hatsune Miku (it's the vocaloid)
Rihanna (few of her songs)
Those are the ones people have risen their eyebrows for when seeing those on my playlist.

Ironically, that's what I dance to more than anything else, even outside of that particular artist :p

Most people don't expect me to listen to my music, because they don't know it exists...

But my list:
Kirby Krackle
YTCracker
MC Lars
Protomen
The Megas
Anamanaguchi
Devo Spice
MC Frontalot
Insane Ian
George Hrab
MC Chris
Schaffer the Darklord
I Fight Dragons
ZeaLouS1

...And thats all I can remeber off the top of my head.

Cookies for anyone who knows 5+ of these guys.

Most artists people don't expect to listen are normally the mainstream solo artists such as Lady GaGa, Michael Buble.

But the biggest one? Is The Saturdays on my iPod. The amount of raised eyebrows...
