I used to like Green Day. I think I still have some of their albums on my iTunes. I don't think I ever listen to them on purpose though.

I used to like Hootie and the Blowfish when I was a little kid and then grew out of them. I used to always like Faith Hill and Celean Dion as well. Not sure where that came from.

EDIT: Ever since I was 12 I've pretty much only listened to Incubus, Rush and Coheed and Cambria as my main bands I like. I listen to a lot of different stuff, but not to the extent to thsoe three.

If you like all the same music you liked when you were a teenager you probably have terrible taste in music. I could list pages worth of bands that I grew out of but it would be easier to just sum them all up under the punk genre. Im still angst ridden fuckwad but I appreciate my angst with a little more depth nowadays. Frank turner has alot of interesting musings on punk in some of his songs if you would like to know more I would suggest listening to him.

Nicleback, pretty self explanatory, they seemed like a really good band when i was a young teen but yeah i grew out of em.
Ah yes, I really loved that track with the spider-man video. Took me a while to figure out that it was a collaberation...
Oh god I used to love that song! I agree with you mostly, although I never got too invested in Nickleback. I got bored of them after they started giving me deja vu.

Same here. I loved a couple of their songs then grew out of them and into classic rock instead.

Linkin Park.
Back when they made music, and not wierd sound effects and singing.

And I used to hate Chase and Status before I saw them live. Totally switched my view of them.
Their songs are clearly built for live raves, and not intended to be studio.

I used to exclusively listen to metal, but now I've branched out a bit and realised that Slipknot really are a load of bullshit.

Nightwish - I just dont like their songs that much any more and I got sick of that Annette vs Tarja thing.
I can understand you. It took me a while to get used to Annete's singing, but I think that she's really good.

Weezer... god dammit WHAT HAPPENED!!?? That Hurley... thing was awful, and why did they even release "Death to false metal"!? its song that they cut because they weren't good! It makes no sense! Exclamation point!

They used to be so amazing... Maybe in a year they can go back to making good music.

Everything after the Red Album sucked, and I'm being nice with the Red Album just for "Greatest Man That Ever Lived".

A pretty simple thread premise. Are there any bands you used to like but for some reason (either because of the band or your own) you drifted away from them. For instance, I used to really like Linkin Park, the first 2 albums anyway, because after that they simply changed styles. I liked them originally because of how different they were and now they just sound like every generic pop/rock band out there.

The opposite also applies. Any bands you used to hate but now like?

I used to really enjoy MCR, their incredibly happy sounding but dark songs like Our Lady of Sorrows and Headfirst for Halos are still enjoyable. Then they went all pop rock and..urgh, it's like their latest influence is S Club 7 or something.

Edit: And a great example that just came to mind is Sonic Syndicate. Anyone interested in hearing how drastically they changed should listen to Prelude to Extinction and Denied, then go try My Own Life. I'm not sure what the shit they were on when they thought that was a valid way to take a melodeath band, but it was some strong shit.
damn, the two bands i wanted to mention (linkin park + mcr) in the first three posts. and fuck yeah, headfirst for halos was awesome!

A little off topic but I've noticed your avatar. Destablise is a fucking brilliant track is it not? I'm really psyched to see where Enter Shikari go next, they just keep getting better.

Weezer, The hoosiers, Coldplay, snow patrol.

They have been replaced by far superior bands suck as The Killers, Arctic monkeys, The prodigy, Foo Fighters, Muse and Radiohead.

Damn right it is.
I too can't wait, all I know is when their new album is released, I'm buying the singles, then the solid CD, then seeing them live. Twice.
Think I'll start saving money in preparation now.

I now feel psychic because before I even clicked on this thread I though of Linkin Park...

I would have to say I like them a little bit better now though :/

The two major bands I used to enjoy have already been mentioned but I feel like, for my post-count sake, that they should be mentioned ANOTHER TIME! Linkin Park, and System Of A Down.
The main difference between the Linkin Park I loved and the one now is how Pop-ish they've become.
S.O.A.D just broke up and quit making music. Being the lack of fresh content they were producing, the song I had kept playing over and over. I tried to preserve S.O.A.D in my heart by replacing their current spot with other bands. However, once I returned, I found their songs to still be repetitive. So I moved on. I found a love in non-metal rock. I started to listen to more alternative bands like the Arctic Monkeys and, Arcade Fire, and Radiohead.

In Flames. I haven't stopped listening to them though, I just pretend Clayman was the last album they released before breaking up and this makes my brain feel happier :)

I guess Offspring, Papa Roach and KoRn should be on that list too. I can still enjoy them if I hear them somewhere but I never put them on out of choice.

Nile and Arch Enemy. Such pathetic excuses for extremely mediocre metal. 'Oh they're metal and sound heavy' was pretty much the only argument I had for listening to them. Then I developed taste and actually started caring about a little more than how 'badass' it made me look when I told people I listened to crap like that.
Nile is good though.

technicality for the sake of being technical does not equal good songwriting or good musicianship or even being generally 'good', so that statement is false.
I think they have decent songwriting, but ofcourse no where near the best, even within Death Metal.
I'm going to agree Novskij on this one and defend Nile. I like the theme of the music which adds an additional element and feel to a stale genre and I enjoy hearing a death metal band that doesn't just buy into the usual anti establishment lyrical content or gore. I also quite enjoy Arch Enemy as well, not because they are "badass" or because I think it makes me look cool but because I enjoy some fast paced, catchy guitar work and a solid vocal performance. Sure there are better bands out there, but that doesn't stop me enjoying their work.

I guess the worst was Trivium.
*shudders*

I'm less ashamed of the fact that I liked linkin park.
In fact I still kind of like them in a catchy cheesy pop song way.
Trivium was huge with the metal heads at my high school. I never bougbht into it, and kept on cranking the Megadeth.
