Well well, IGN finally caught my eye with something I knew for a while. But someone on the site had organized 3 pages(though there were than just the 6 videos given) of banned episodes worldwide.

http://ds.ign.com/articles/949/949928p1.html

Though I saw the first one(on the link) leaked and I never got a seizure. The rest, well, There's always youtube.

I couldnt believe that one part caused seizures. It only lasted for like 1 second, I would have missed it if I hadnt known it was coming...I obviously know nothing about epilepsy.

I can kind of understand why the other ones were banned, it being a children's show and all, but the Porygon one? It really wasn't that bad.

I've seen 'Electric Soldier Porygon', though it was a really poor quality file. It's a shame it had to be cut entirely, because it was one of the few eps where Team Rocket did something other than comically fail at being villainous.

The one I really want to see is 'Holiday at Aopulco'. James entering a swimsuit contest in drag with inflatable boobs that get bigger when he stamps his foot. In a show aimed at 4-9 year olds. That right there, ladies and gentlemen, is culture shock.

They eventually did show most of these episodes, but with the "offensive" content cut out.

That said, I saw the James-With-Tits episode in Japanese at the time (and this was the days before the intertorrents and next day fansubbing, or indeed any real fansubbing at all), and it was hilarious.

Also, Jesse was where it was at, and an episode where she showed up in a swimsuit was pretty much sold to me.

Photosensitive epilepsy can be triggered by really short changes in light levels, if they are intense enough. I've seen someone literally black out on the spot due to lights flicking off and on in a thunderstorm whilst I was in a restaurant (ordinarily quite brightly lit).

Unless you are susceptible to seizures, you won't have one. People who are can consciously look away, but most kids don't know, since the only way to find out >without having a seizure< is to get an MRI, or have a reeeally good doctor. This happens with lots of Movies and TV shows, but it rarely overloads hospitals, since it has to be a very popular show, like pokemon was.

(a friend of a Japanophile friend told me all about it, he knew one of the seizure kids)

I can definitely understand the james with sweater meat being cut, even though that is hilarious. The creepy thing is he seems overjoyed with his two new companions.

That could be really bad taken out of context.

The fourth one, With the guns made it seem the show was far more adult in Japan, In the opening intro with "Under the skirt of every girl." Shocked me the most so much for innocent kid show.

I've seen the banned episodes and was sad to see that:

a) No pokemon actually died.
b) We didnt get to see what Jesse and James get up to when Meowth isnt around ;)
c) Ash couldn't grow a pair and tell Pikachu to curl up in a pokeball and die.

So true. They didn't manage to steal Pikachu, but they did give a bunch of kids seizures. Well done, Team Rocket!

I'm too scared to watch it, I'm obviously a complete wimp.
You, sir, are the biggest wimp ever. Lord of all wet blankets. King of poltroons. Master of chicken.
From now on I will adress you as "your Wimpiness".

To the OP:
What's the point of disussion here? The seizure-creating episode or the hypocrisy in the US?

The only reinforces my knowledge the Pokemon was the coolest Japanese cartoon ever. Although it is little above Tenchi Muyo, I loved that show.
