So I just got Bastion off of the Humble Indie pack 5(which you all should get) and am loving every second of it. The narrator is awesome and his voice is great. The sound track is amazing. I also love the weapons. I go war machete and musket with the long ranged mod. What was you weapon load out. I also love how the narrator comments on you load out.

Beautiful, brilliant game. One of my favorites of last year, along with To the Moon and Skyrim.

I used the...uh...I think it was some kind of Scattergun. And some other thing.

(checks wiki)

The scrap musket. And eventually the Calamity Cannon as well.

Just out of curiousity are you using a gamepad? I got it as a gift/prize at the end of last year and I find it (and some other games, like Super Meat Boy) too hard to play with a keyboard and mouse. I'm really tempted to get a 360 controller for my PC.

No, no gamepad but I wish i was i hate having to navigate difficult terrain because with wasd it feels like trial and error. I need to get something to hook up my 360 controller.

I'd recommend swaping your weapons every so often. It changes the dynamics a bit (for example, mixing long range but slow and melee to rapid fire weapons) and mixes it up a bit. Also, try out the idols when you get the chance. It's an incredible in-game difficulty change that can ramp up challenge. Other than that, enjoy! It's one of the best games I've played and I'm amazed at what Supergiant Games acomplished.

I used just about every weapon at one time or another, at first I stuck with my machete and scrap musket and they were great but in all honesty the weapons start to feel very different from each other the more they get upgraded.

I've even done the double ranged weapons thing with the right spirits it can work wonders.

The soundtrack is honestly one of the best parts of the whole game. I haven't played bastion is months but I still listen to the soundtrack (It's the only video game soundtrack I enjoy)

Just recently beat this game. Although repetitive at times it is still a fantastic game and I'm already half way through my New Game Plus file.

Once you get halfway, you'll have all the good weapons.

One of the best games of the past 10 years, hands down, don't care what anybody says.

I used the Dueling Pistols and the War Machete most of the time, although the Breaker's Bow was cool too. On my second playthrough I tried to switch them up a bit, but I ended using the Brusher's Pike and some other ranged weapon most of the time.

This is one aspect, along with many others, that puts it above other games of its genre for me. Every weapon feels different, and actually makes you change your playstyle. Unlike games like Diablo, in which the only real difference between a sword, an axe or a mace is a slight difference in attack speed.

I completed it only a few days ago after buying when it was on sale the other week. Money wasted now i just picked it up again. If anyone wants to trade for the steam key, in box me.

But Yeah if theres a game that justifys that games can be considered an art form then this is it.

Not sure what to say beyond, "I love it too." One of my favourites last year.

Funny thing, I saw the announcement trailer and instantly dismissed it. Then the positive reviews started pouring in. "Bah", I said. "These are the same people that said FF XIII was good." Then Yahtzee aid nice things about it. "Oh fine then" says I. "I'll try your bloody game" And lo and behold, it was glorious.

Great story, despite its simplicity. A fantastic example of world building. Charming visual design. Sublime soundtrack. Also, one of the more interesting difficulty mechanics I've seen. And yes, the narrator kicked all kinds of arse.

I actually wasn't a huge fan of the gameplay, but it was good enough to get me through.

I mainly used the shotgun-ish weapon and a melee weapon, usually the machete or spear.

Definitely a favourite game of mine. I've played through it about 3 times, one time was on NG+ with all idols activated.

My personal favourites were the scrap musket and the carbine. The carbine was really good as the build I used focused on critical hits, armour penetration (it's a godsend) and rapid fire with life leech as you need to be nimble and always capable of recovering after a few hits. It's a pretty overpowered combination though.

My loadout was (and still is) The army carbine (gotta love birds eye snipers) and the brushers pike.

Beauty.
Every second of that game is.

Best game of 2011. Love it to bits and I'm trying to convince my friends to get it. When you play Amnesia record it, that game is hilarious.

I finished it last night, probably the best thing I've played since ME3. The gameplay can get a little rough, though, but everything else makes up for it.

Also, I stuck with the hammer and bow all the way through. Fully upgraded bow is an unstoppable cannon and if anything gets close enough to hit you, the armor-ignoring hammer can usually one shot them.

I used the pistols and the flame bellow. I nicknamed one of the flame bellows special skills, "the flaming pinwheel of death". It could actually lag the framerate since it spit out so much fire.

What you're probably pleasantly find is that it's not just the load outs, nearly every action can potentially and dynamically trigger the narrator.
