The selfie's the least problematic thing in that image... I mean, why is she taking that selfie at some kind of "party" of some sorts? Is she planning to Instagram that pic, telling all her fans that she's that down-to-earth, even while fight crime?Drizzitdude said:Surprised more people aren't talking about the fact she is taking a selfie.
In the comic I read, they did play with the fear of her being paralysed again but in the most hamfisted way possible: she froze up at pivotal points and got other characters killed about half a dozen times, simply because the villain she was chasing stood up to her.Zachary Amaranth said:I wouldn't mind them bringing her back as the classic character except for the fact that A. it appears to be handwaved as "BECAUSE SCIENCE!" and B. they did something interesting with her, which the first arc was not.Dragonlayer said:But seriously, I thought she was established as the information provider/computer expert/support specialist for the rest of the Batclan? I read one of the New 52 with her in it where she was moping about how she wasn't worthy of the medical advances that cured her paralysis, and the entire character was written as a generic action chick, which I'm sure are dime a dozen in the DC universe. Why not keep Barbara as Oracle? I mean, isn't there already an Asian Batgirl (whose name escapes me right now)?
They could have even done something interesting with the fear she'd lose use of her legs again, but if they did, it was further in than I read. I mean, the fear was there, but it lacked the "interesting" part.
I pretty much just shook my head and sighed, assuming that was just what the "yoof" are into these days.Drizzitdude said:Surprised more people aren't talking about the fact she is taking a selfie.
Yeah, that sounds about right.Dragonlayer said:In the comic I read, they did play with the fear of her being paralysed again but in the most hamfisted way possible: she froze up at pivotal points and got other characters killed about half a dozen times, simply because the villain she was chasing stood up to her.
I honestly just wrote it off as DC making another stupid gimmicky idea I can ignore.Drizzitdude said:Surprised more people aren't talking about the fact she is taking a selfie.
Barbara was offered a medical solution not available to the public. She gets pretty beat up over it at the beginning, wondering what makes her more important than the common person. In short: DC still is trying to pretend Stephanie Brown never happened.Dragonlayer said:So how exactly did her spine fix itself? As for the costume itself, it's quite retro looking to my uneducated eye: probably the bright yellow on dark blue colours.
Looking at the photo, the tilt I think is explained by the fairly large pouch on her right hip. The pouches and stuff don't seem to be evenly distributed around the body, so if the weight is off on the right, it would make sense for it to tilt a bit. Also, she appears to be affecting a slight "pose" in the picture, a little bit of a hip swivel to the side, which could also throw off the balance and cause the "tilt"ChristopherT said:3) So, X-Men's Rogue, when she wore a belt that sagged on a tilt from one hip to the next, design choice and not much more lala, sure, same here, but, does that belt look like it's supposed to have that tilt, and only that tilt. It looks like it's made to have a tilt by design, that's odd right? Like all Rogue had to do was tighten the damn thing, but Barbs looks like that belt has uneven loops to go through. Like pre-ripped jeans only with a belt tilt.
