I'm just past the Deathstroke fight (which was awesome), and I've run into a number of bugs so far. Croc flickered & briefly disappeared when I fought him, and a door that was meant to be openable stayed locked tight until I restarted the game.

Nothing too bad, though, and it's damn fun.

One question: does Electrocutioner resurface after your first encounter with him, and is he more impressive?
He is seen again, and he has a smashing ending xD

I was laughing at how underwhelming he was, he was so anti-climactic its funny.

So far I'm only about a quarter into the way into this game, and honestly I am having a great time with it. The main question I suppose is whether it is better than AA or AC, and I would say thus far it is on par with AC, if not a shade below, but it is still a really solid game.

There are some glaring faults and I did have a few glitches that caused me to have to reload my last checkpoint, but that would bump me back maybe a minute's worth of gameplay. Very annoying, but not a game breaker.

My biggest gripe however is the map layout. The bridge doesn't bother me so much, but there are points where you feel likeyou should be able to grapnel to a rooftop or glide over a building, but the game refuses to allow you to do so. These are mostly on the map edges, but sometimes it can be aggravating.

Oh, and the Deathstroke battle? This is a classic game boss, folks. Not any "hit the glowing spot for max damage" here. This is one of those bosses you have to actually pay attention to and not think you can bull rush. It'll piss off the button mashers for sure, but as I'm finding out more and more in this game, precision is key. The game is actually a bit more punishing than the previous iterations and I'm enjoying the challenge.

I am about a quarter of the game in. So far, its pretty good, not as good as City, but a lot better than that Robin DLC.
Technical issues are a problem. I have found the game framerate hiccups a lot more than the other games, even when, in this case, is entirely in the HDD.

I'm only at the beginning, but so far it seems like it's on par with the other two, but then again i only reached deathstroke and went to sleep after he kicked my ass 3 times yesterday, it's kinda funny considering what a joke the first assasin was. I have a feeling that he will come back and kick my ass later..

I was tempted to pick it up, but seeing as they're likely going to DLC the fuck out of it, decided I'd rather wait for a GOTY edition with all the add-ons.

I enjoyed the story quite a bit, though the PS3 framerate issue was kinda horrible since you're pretty much forced to encounter it twice in the game. Gameplay wise I liked the new enemy types and the boss battles were pretty well designed as well, in my opinion at least.

I'm enjoying the multiplayer quite a bit as well, but that's probably mostly down to it being rather different from most other games out there, because it's quite messy if you just look at it from a quality viewpoint.

I've only dabbled around in Single player for a little bit. I usually jump to multiplayer with games like this because they tend to die out quickly and I wanted to get my money's worth. Unfortunately, Splash Damage has continued their spree of failure that has plagued them since Enemy Territory. Seriously, after Brink was such an utter failure why is anyone giving them money anymore? The multiplayer is just an insanely buggy mess, and even when it works it's horribly executed. I really wish they would've used the money that they payed splash damage and invested it into the single player. The multiplayer feels like a task some poor schmuck was randomly assigned and told to finish in a weekend.

Side note on the PC: Wtf is with all the pre game screens, this isn't the 90s almost every game nowadays lets you skip that garbage, but not for Origins you have to sit through all that shit.

I saw one guy mention the gunners on rooftop taking shots as you fly by, and I have to add that this has been almost a deal-breaker for me at this point. (SPOILER) After just finishing the segment where the Joker gives his monologue to Harley, I reentered the city as Batman to find that EVERY SINGLE FREAKING ROOFTOP has gunners and snipers on them, making it almost impossible to leisurely explore the city and use my newly acquired Shock Gloves to get some of the remaining Enigma collectibles. This is freaking ridiculous. Yes, I understand posting snipers around the area where the next story mission will take place (Arkham City did this in a responsible manner), but putting them everywhere and thus punishing me for wanting to explore the city is just ridiculous. I like how challenging this game has been up to this point, but that ruins the open city aspect. It's almost like playing Just Cause 2 now. Sure, there's this giant open world with beautiful environments, but DON'T YOU GO EXPLORING or we'll fill you with more holes than the world's largest slice of Swiss cheese. Thanks, Arkham Origins. I know I'm getting the full Batman experience when gliding towards a collectible earns me eight sniper beads on my ass at once and a nice ol' frustrating insta-death.

I'm actually enjoying it way more than city. Asylum still has the best atmosphere and story, but Origins definitely is more enjoyable in the gameplay department than City. Not to say City was bad, just this is better than it. The Boss fights are all really strong, especially Deathstroke. I do wish the city was more alive though, I know there's the crimes in progress, but I wanted to just fly around and save random people being mugged and whatnot. That and there ain't a million billion bloody Riddler Trophies this time round

Aside from the fact that it's pretty unstable, having crashed a ton of times when Asylum or City never did to my memory my main complaint is:

The fact that the villain is yet again The Joker, look I love The Joker, the new Voice Actor does a really good job with him, and the story itself was good, Batman is a total psychopath in this one, snapping peoples ribs, throwing them off roofs, smashing the shit out of the Penguin, good fun. However, I was promised Black Mask and 8 Assassins! Turns out Black Mask is actually only in the game for about 30 seconds tops, with it being the Joker in disguise as him for most of it. And I only fought 5 of the Assassins in the main story, 1 of which was a joke fight(though quite amusing). I do really like their take on the Joker and Batmans first meeting, however, they could've perhaps saved it for Origins 2 or some DLC (the next one is set after City and Developed by Rocksteady), as I worry they don't think they can sell a Batman game without Joker. It would've been better if we didn't know Joker was in the game at all to be honest. The reveal would've been stronger. I want Ra's Al Ghul as the next villain. Voiced By David Warner.

Plus the Batman theme from BTAS and the Tim Burton films needs to be in these games for fuck sake. I mean sure I can hum it at appropriate moments, but it's not the same man.

The "dungeon" areas are much longer and give me an Asylum feel as opposed to a City feel which makes me very harry.

really surprised at how good it is. i was really disappointed with city. this game is better in every way. most importantly though it has a much better story and more human characters. batman actually feels like a person in this game, that conversation he has with Alfred was fantastic and it did his relationship with the joker perfectly. my praise goes out to WB Montreal

I'm a sucker for the combat challenge room. So far, 100 to 1 has my number. But I MUST SUCCEED!

Each character in AA was hyped and done perfectly
Whoaaaaaaa. Half the time the hype fell flat. Zsasz showed up as little more than a silent takedown tutorial, Bane was tastelessly handled as a sub-boss, you never got proper fights with either Harley or Scarecrow (though his levels were fun), Croc you never even fight despite arguably being the second-most hyped character after Joker (his intro, his little threat cutscenes, the interviews, all that banter between Bruce and Oracle and Cash) and Joker... well, it's just fighting mooks all over, right? You only get to punch him three times, and the third is a cutscene. The only character that gets away with the hype is Ivy. She's introduced at the right time, and plays out more or less accordingly. She's the most wholesome boss battle you get in the game, hands down. The rest of the bosses suck.

Anyway... I won't be playing AO just yet, but so far I'm hearing nothing but good things. The appreciation mileage between AA, AC and AO varies from one person to another, but the important thing is, beyond the subjective "X was better than Y", I'm not finding any punctual flaws. So far it sounds bigger and better.
I meant each character was portrayed perfectly :p sorry my bad, i know the boss battles pretty much suck, but the way the characters are in the game is pretty much perfect. xD
Yep, portrayal was great. Design, voice cast, all of it. I wish Gordon hadn't been such an inept stooge though, I think he deserves better than that. I'm still not sure how the hell he managed to get himself kidnapped a 2nd time AFTER he left the Asylum and was supposed to be off in Gotham doing his thing.
Huh? twice? i only remember one time where he got kidnapped, when was the second time? He went back to Gotham and found the fake bombs joker had planted. Or you confusing him with Quincy Sharp? :p
Boles kidnaps him the first time and is held as bait throughout a large portion of the game until Bats rescues him from Harley Quinn and puts Gordon on a boat to Gotham following the fight against Bane. During the film's climax with Titan Joker, Gordon's revealed trapped in an electric chair, occassionally electrocuted during the boss fight.

(top left)

As far as I remember, it's never addressed nor explained how did Joker capture Gordon a 2nd time, nor who did, and how they shipped him back to Arkham.
We never saw the face of the guard on the boat. My suspicion is that it was an inmate disguised as a guard who then proceeded to incapacitate Gordon and haul him back to Joker

I've finished the main story now, just finishing off the rest of the Most Wanted missions and upgrades before I go onto New Game Plus. All in all, I've really enjoyed it. In alot of ways its better than Arkham City was in terms of the combat, bosses and story. Thats not to say that AC is terrible its far from that, its just to me the story here in Origins feels alot more like the earlier comics and I love the subtle things that are here that really make you feel like you're playing a less refined Batman, definetly noticeable in the combat and you definetly have to pay more attention this time around. Sure it can get annoying with the combat being more difficult but hey, who doesn't like a challenge? :)
Speaking of challenge, the challenge maps this time around I'm enjoying alot more than AC's. The predator room's especially (Don't get me started on Top of the World Extreme in Arkham City....hateful map) as this time they're alot bigger and definetly give you more opportunities to use more of the skills in predator. True to their word, WB Montreal definetly want players to explore how deep the gameplay can be this time around and it shows :) I'm loving it and can't wait to see what else comes with DLC. Oh and yes, the Deathstroke fight is awesome!!!
The technical issues are a pain but its not been a huge dealbreaker for me, hopefully it'll get a patch to fix it soon.

Oh christ the challenge maps from AC >< Top of the world can fuck riiiight off. I wouldn't have minded them, but you had to do them 4 times to get 100% of the achievements, and as dedicated a Batman Fantaic I am, I just do NOT have time for that. I'll do it once with Batman, then I'm done. Deathstrokes don't count this time round, but you have to get MP achievements, which is a rather clunky game mode.

I really hope they fix the crashing, it's crashed sooo many times for me. I'd really like to do I am The Night Mode, but until they fix it, I'm not going to even bother.

The fact that it's never directly addressed in the game, and we're supposed to just go with it (which I did, at the time) makes me suppose we're not meant to think very highly of Gordon. He's Arkham Asylum's resident damsel in distress, I'd say. Getting knocked down by Boles... dragged off by Harley... Scarecrow fakes his death with his toxins... Batman jumping in to take Bane's attack... getting electrocuted by Joker...

Even telling us there is a twist is a spoiler because now when I play the game I'll be looking for a twist and when it happens I won't be surprised at all.

I completed the main story, and I found it enjoyable. Not as good as it could've been, but I blame the resources put to use on the multiplayer modes for that.

I do like the crime scenes that you can investigate, but I wish they could've put some twists in there. My main complaint is the buggy fast travel sequence. A work-around, from what little I actually used it, would be FT to the Batcave then to the district you want to get to. I did like the interesting scene at the end as it makes me very curious about the 'New Story' that you can get as part of the Season Pass. Also, I am not sure if anyone else encountered it, but after finishing the story, the game wouldn't let me interrogate anyone at all, until I reset the console.

I still feel that the multiplayer is a waste of time, because the other games worked fine without it, but I am not a big fan of Multiplayer anyways...

But it was good, and I will probably get around to cleaning up the rest of Arkham, and I might get around to doing all the challenges in the cave.

Well I got an update on my PS3 this evening and so far I've had no freezing or loss of framerate. There was one little instance but it wasn't too bad and it cleared up after it finished saving. So yeah, there's a patch now at least for the PS3 version, not too sure on the other versions yet but they can't be too far behind. Hopefully more people out there can now enjoy this game alot more thanks to this patch :)
