I actually played through both the games again recently, and really as long as they don't monkey around with the combat mechanics (the most important part and what I'd say made those games awesome) I think things should be alright.

That said, if The Joker's in it and they couldn't convince Mark Hamil to voice him again (as I'm pretty sure he declared that Batman: AC was going to be the last time he'd do it), I already don't like this game. :p
He also said he'd never do another Star Wars. Money can be a powerful motivator.
You know, that's a very good point. No matterr how proud you might be, at the end of the day you'll still need that paycheck.

Wait, but what happened to the guy in the Sidequest with the Bruce-Wayne face who killed people?

Just going to drop it?
Don't forget The Watcher that keeps popping up and tells you that you're going to fulfill a heroic prophecy to shut the gates of hell after Gotham burns with you along with it.
Hopefully after Rocksteady is done with their next game they will develop a sequel to Batman: Arkham City. After hearing what The Watcher said there needs to be a sequel and Rocksteady needs to be the ones to do it.

I will be severely disappointed if Ron Pearlman isn't cast as Deathstroke.

So any theories for what the game might actually be about?

I think it could be really cool to finally play a Batman game out in the real world instead of in another bloody overrun prison! Imagine being able to track down and fight bad guys in Gotham City with civilians and cops everywhere? Being able to visit Commissioner Gordon on the roof of the police station? Saving actual citizens from being mugged instead of "political prisoners?

Perhaps the game could involve tracking down Batman's various enemies through the streets of Gotham City and taking them to Arkham Asylum? Throughout the game you would gradually fill all the cells and in doing so you'd lessen the amount of crime and violence out in the city..?

It would be really cool to be able to revisit an earlier version of Arkham Asylum back before it was taken over by the Joker... Maybe Hugo Strange and Harley Quinn still work there at this point? Imagine being able to go and talk with different villians in their cells after capturing them, a bit like the Calendar Man moments in Arkham City?

So many possibilities...

I would imagine they are just making a prequel whilst Rocksteady works on another title, and then they will return for Arkham 3. Just a thought though.

Gah someone give me a good Batman Beyond game, is that so much to ask!?
I want to say...kinda.

The idea of a Batman Beyond video seems really awesome on paper. Have an Arkham City style open world game, but in the future, with all the cool tech and gadgets and stuff, what's not to like right? The problem is actually balancing a game around all the gadgets from Batman Beyond. All the stealth sections from Arkham Asylum and Arkham City? Might as well be gone since Terry can turn invisible. Having to maneuver around using the grappling hook and gliding? Also gone since Terry can FLY using his rocket boots.

See, the Batman Beyond version of Batman doesn't have the same weaknesses and limitations that the "standard" version of Batman comes with, and this makes it a lot more difficult to make a good game. It's kind of the same reason there aren't any good Superman or Iron Man videogames.

All of these can be nerfed in other to put a challange to the player, the fact you can turn invisible could be counter by maybe only during a small period of time and maybe not being able to move? Or the rockets don't last very long and need time to recharge?

It's much easier to nerf a superhero who depends on his gadgets than Superman.

The only problem I find on a Batman Beyond game is that he doesn't have a good variety of good villains, the only ones I can think of the top of my head are green skeletor and goo girl (not their actual names, mind you)

You just want to play a batman game that allows you to fly with a jetpack don't you?

.....Ok, admittedly, that's a pretty freaking good reason. xD

Still, beyond was an interesting setting and i would like to see a game based on it that's done right.

But that's the thing, you can put artificial limits on the powers of the superhero, but then they aren't true to their comic book/cartoon counterpart anymore, so it's not as interesting. One of the reasons that Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are so good and so fun to play is because they were really good without putting a bunch of arbitrary limits on Batman. In fact, with detective mode they actually powered him up more and created interesting challenges around his skill set rather than nerfing him to fit with their game. It would be much more interesting to play a batman beyond video game where batman has all of his powers, and the game is tailored completely around those abilities without nerfing them, because that gives the player a more complete idea of what it's like to actually be Terry in the show, rather than making the player feel like the character was limited just because it's a game. Now of course one of the limiting factors could easily be which gadgets Terry would have access to, just like in the Arkham games, but I feel like the game really wouldn't be complete without allowing the player to experience the full potential of the Batman Beyond suit.

This pleases me. I've enjoyed both Rocksteady Batman games so I'm hoping this one will live up to them despite being different developers.
Hopefully I'll have an xbox by that point ;-;

Hmm I'm not sure about this,I have mixed feelings:
Good-it's not a campy silver age affair which would have instantly turned me off.
Iffy-The new publisher being involved instead of the old ones.
Bad: Not following up on the cliffhanger left in the last game.

Do the Dee Dees not count? What about Curare the Assassin? Or the Jokerz Gang? Blight and Inque are the two you mentioned, but there is also the Royal Flush Gang (with his equivalent of Catwoman), Shriek, Kobra, and of course, Mad Stan the bomber.

The last time I remember developers switching for a major WB franchise was when F.E.A.R. went from Monolith to Day 1 and that was a complete disaster, but I'm really sure that was Day 1's fault, not WB's. Anyways, I'll keep an eye on it. Hopefully I have better luck with it than I did with the first two games. Arkham Asylum was just an OK game (great concept but ran out of interesting ideas too quickly), and while I absolutely loved what I got to experience of Arkham City, the game constantly froze on me during the cutscene after the first fight with Joker, making it impossible for me to get further in the game. It was a real shame, that game could have easily been better than the Assassin's Creed games if not for that bug.

How many threads do we need about it? Again I echo feelings of doom. If there's no Conroy(albeit rumour far as I know.) and no Mark Hamil there's no Batman, Rocksteady's absence only worsens it all.
