Batman Soundtrack

SO, Batman day is coming up soon (Sept. 17) and DC had a facebook poll for fans to choose what songs fit batmans essence. The soundtrack is a bit odd to say the least. What would you guys add or take away? What's your most Batmany song?

Hmph, would have to log on Spotify to see the full list. That ain't happening. But in any case, this one is probably on it. And if it isn't, it damn well ought to be. Quite possibly the best thing about the movie.

The answer is simple Batdance by Prince. The only version I can find on YouTube is a remix. If you already have the soundtrack by Prince, then you will know what I am talking about.

Maybe How it Ends, for the somber tone (and not the religiousness of it). It gives me the feeling that Batman would die to protect the city, and the people.

They have been doing sorta well with that during their Rebirth titles.

Danny Elfman tends to get dismissed a lot as 'that wacky composer who always works with Tim Burton' but in my mind, his soundtrack for the original 1989 Batman is the definitive Batman soundtrack. The new movies have this loud, grungy, booming music which I'm not very fond of, whereas the originals had a touch of whimsy to them, of mystery.

Hell, I would say this scene is probably my favourite batman scene from any of the movies-


-and the soundtrack is a big part of what makes it so memorable. Even Batman 2, for all its many many flaws, had a stunning soundtrack. Danny Elfman was THE sound of Batman, that I only see one of his songs on that list is sad.
