I've heard a lot about this, being cited as -the- definative, best batman series there has been yet.

Is it really as good as everyones says, i've sadly been unable to watch it and would like to know if it deserves the praise it gets.

depends on which series you mean. There's been quite a few over the past few decades. I watched the one from the 90's, though I think it's the one from the 60's or 70's that gets the most praise.

The level of writing was ok - definitely better than the censored shit they show kids today. It gets the most points because it was just one of those animated shows that managed to finangle a badass voice-acting cast, like Gargoyles.

I watched the one from the 90's (At least I think it was that one, that was a while ago whoaaah) and I loved it. Actually for me it was a bad thing as it stopped me enjoying The Dark Knight because no Joker will ever live up to Mark Hamil. Yes you should check it out. It was one of the largest parts of my childhood, and I have no bad memories about it, with or without pink glasses

I have a box set of them and the're damn good assuming it's the batman your looking for. It's more of an old comicbook batman, it's dark but it also understands that it's aimed at children. It also allows for the goofer side of batman that has been lost over the years, so you can have the Penguin attacking Batman with killer birds or Joker giving gothams fish huge grins.

It also has some really great voice acting, not least of which is Mark Hamill as the Joker. Heath Ledger was an amazing Joker, but Hamill is the guy you hear when you read the comics.

The art style is nice too, a kind of art deco art style with a 1950's feel to it with stuff such as black & white tv.

It's also worth checking out the 1996 New Adventures of Batman, which is essentially what the series evolved into. The style is lost somewhat, but it's the same voice actors, the animation improved dramically, and the show as a whole became a hell of a lot darker. This comes with it's advantages and disadvantages, the goofiness is cut out but this version spawned some of the best stories of the show as a whole, such as the definitive Harley Quinn episode Mad Love.

I think they're both worth checking out. I managed to get a box set of the entire Animated series for just over £10 so it's not lightly to cheat out of much if you don't like it.

Unfortunately I grew up with it and I love Batman so I have thick nostalgia glasses. I think it was good, great even as a kids show. Even now as a 20 year old man I still go back and watch some of the episodes occasionally. Batman Beyond (came out in 2000/01 I believe) was also quite good.

I got the whole thing on DVD. It is really the best adaptation of Batman. It's in my opinion, far better than the Christopher Nolan films. Though I do have to admit Batman Beyond was pretty neat though.

wut

Batman:TAS was by far the best Batman series I've ever seen, and one of the best cartoons I've ever seen on top of that. It barely edges out Batman Beyond as Best Cartoon I Can't Believe I Disliked As A Child, Holy Shit This Is Awesome.

If you mean the one from the 90s, then yeah, I thought it was pretty good. Some episodes could get pretty dark without being laughable, and the animation was pretty good too. The movie based on the series was also really well done. It's called Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. Definately check it out if you like the main series.

'90's series very good. Most the voice actors reprised their roles in Batman Arkham Asylum video game

True story: Batman Begins and the whole Christopher Nolan Batman project began as an attempt to make a Batman Beyond (Batman of the Future, in Europe) movie in the same realistic style.

If you've played Arkham Asylum, they used one of the writers (Paul Dini, genius) and 3 of the voice cast from the show (Batman, Joker and Harley Quinn reprised their roles). That should give you some idea how brilliant the show was. Best animated tv show ever in my opinion.

The first couple of seasons were very very good, but eventually it peckered out a bit near the end. But the first couple of seasons were some of my favorite cartoons of all time. The art was good quality for a long time.

Kevin Conroy nails Batman right on the head, Mark Hamil, to many kids, is the definitive voice of the Joker. All in all, worthwhile.

Yes, the 90s version in my personal estimation is the definitive batman out of any media, short of the comics themselves, and Arkham asylum. Arkham asylum is basically the final evolution of the animated series as being written by Dini, and lead voices being held by Hamil, Conroy and sorkin, Joker, Batman and Harley respectively.

I dare say its more enjoyable than even the Nolan era films. But thats just a personal pref.

The animation does look a little dated now, but outside of that, it truly is one of the single most enjoyable animated series that was somewhat directed towards kids, and I personally feel the only thing in recent memory that even comes close to it, Is Avatar: The last airbender.

Definitely worth watching.

I couldn't tell you. The art style was so terrible that I couldn't get myself to watch it. I still can't.
