I have a box set of them and the're damn good assuming it's the batman your looking for. It's more of an old comicbook batman, it's dark but it also understands that it's aimed at children. It also allows for the goofer side of batman that has been lost over the years, so you can have the Penguin attacking Batman with killer birds or Joker giving gothams fish huge grins.
It also has some really great voice acting, not least of which is Mark Hamill as the Joker. Heath Ledger was an amazing Joker, but Hamill is the guy you hear when you read the comics.
The art style is nice too, a kind of art deco art style with a 1950's feel to it with stuff such as black & white tv.
It's also worth checking out the 1996 New Adventures of Batman, which is essentially what the series evolved into. The style is lost somewhat, but it's the same voice actors, the animation improved dramically, and the show as a whole became a hell of a lot darker. This comes with it's advantages and disadvantages, the goofiness is cut out but this version spawned some of the best stories of the show as a whole, such as the definitive Harley Quinn episode Mad Love.
I think they're both worth checking out. I managed to get a box set of the entire Animated series for just over £10 so it's not lightly to cheat out of much if you don't like it.
