Batman Vs Superman Dawn of Justice Trailer #2: WHY DOES BATMAN HAVE A GUN!?!

Other than Batman having a gun I thought it was kind of odd that Batman kind of cringed away from Doomsday's...energy attack thing. It just doesn't seem like a Batman kind of thing to do, especially a post Jason Todd Batman; I would expect him to stare down an on-rushing death. The shotgun-looking thing he was holding was also incredibly strange...very un-Batman.

When it comes to Lex I fully expect for there to be a line of dialog about "That time he stole 40 cakes".

I definitely agree that the trailer showed way too much. I'm still excited about the film, though. I'm one of the few.

While the character isn't exactly Shakespearean he does serve as a foil to Superman in the comics - Superman is treated with basic human deceny, respect and love and he becomes an omni-benevolent god while Doomsday is scorned with horrific malice and he becomes a destroyer of worlds. Given that DCCU Superman is a quite bit different from comics Superman I'm not sure that the foil works, especially if they're going to significantly alter Doomsday backstory. That was really just about the only thing that I thought worked about it. Then again, he fits the "no fun allowed" mold, he's immediately recognizable, you don't have to worry about giving him backstory, dialogue or otherwise deal with all of that pesky humanizing

They're presumably going to just make Doomsday a monster that wants to kill stuff because why not.
I think that works tbh. This movie already has the Batman vs Superman conflict, Luthor pulling the strings, and Wonderwoman (who is not likely antagonistic though) so having an easily explainable 'it just wants to punch the world' big hitter threat for them to unite against and punch seems like a good call.
