Hello, Just looking for some info on Battlefield 2 really, mostly, how popular is it these days? I used to play it for around 2 years, but my laptop couldn't really cope with it, which led to performance issues, which led to me dying a lot.. lol, but the only thing that concerns me is whether people still play on the servers? And are those that do play just uberly amazing by now?

Anyway, any info or advice would be wonderful :)

Battlefield 2 has a fairly large player base still; large enough that popular mods for the game are still played as well, such as Project Reality.

I play it on the 360 myself, and there still seems to be a fairly large fanbase, especially since the Vietnam expansion.

You'd get more traffic within Gaming Discussion, so I'll move it there for you.

I'm rather sure he meant Battlefield 2 and not Bad Company 2.

Yeah Battlefield 2 is rather crowdy for 6-year old game, its not hard to find a couple of full 64-player servers.

Thanks man, I was thinking battlefield 2 rather than bad company :) As long as there are some servers still going I'll pick up a cheap copy off steam!

There should be quite a bit of players left behind, as far as I know, you will have no trouble getting into a 64 player server. Also check out Project Reality, it's really good from what I hear as well.

It is quite popular, I actually played it 5 minutes ago. However, most servers don´t have that many players. As such I almost exclusively play JHS 24/7 Karkand (popular, low lag, no vehicles)

PS the server is in the UK i think so if you´re in America it isn´t as good.

There's still quite a few servers with people playing in them, but it's kind of fallen into the Counter-Strike Zone (also known as the Team Fotress 2 zone) where the people who haven't gotten bored and moved onto other games are the super hardcore fans who are stupidly good at the game.

Also, most of them are Infantry-Only servers which means that a single squad of medics with G36Es automatically win for whatever team they're on.

doesn't fucking work on windows 7 :( bought it for nothing.

EDIT: when I checked a few years ago it was still pretty popular. Although that was a few years ago.

I wouldn't bother if I were you - there are better shooters out there, and BF2 had an atrociously coded game engine with plenty of annoying glitches and bugs. I'd go for BC2, really.

I've picked it up in the end, it's pretty good, still got plenty of people, though apparently you need to disable the steam client server, to make sure that it doesn't interfere with punkbuster! Thanks for the info guys :)
