After the initial server issues have been fixed, I am loving the beta (on the 360). I have heard that this "beta" is really based off of an alpha build of the game, so alot of the wonky glitches I'm not really holding my breath over (Even though EA has patched and fixed a number of them);

but the only thing that I really would like is the ability to invite my friends as squadmates during the beta.

I haven't tried it on the PSN yet, so I may download that. All in all it feels really good, and the 'vault' ability that they've added to the standard jump button feels very smooth. It's way better than BC1 & BC2 to me.

Kinda glad that there are no vehicles in the beta, then there would be massive campin of the vehicle spawns, and that would turn alot of people off. The operation Metro map is really good, and I think I may have convinced a buddy of mine (CoD diehard) to pick this up.

yeah I can't wait for this to drop.

this is the online fps where i've ever felt pinned down by enemy gunfire, like my suppressing fire is actually making a difference and where going prone to covertly crawl through bushes makes sense. Playing with a squad making tactical decisions is so much more rewarding than sprinting around lone wolf style going for that awesome k/d ratio and I find myself playing in a very realistic manner (so far as fps goes). The thing that i think gets a lot of players, is that sprinting towards the objective is a surefire way to get killed. You have to work your way there, with the squad, you mightn't be the first player there, but you feel like you've made a difference as part of a team by laying down covering fire and healing your team mates.

Choosing a map without vehicles is a weird choice for a BF game, but then in the final push, destroying the building that bastard sniper is hiding in is just so much fun I feel like it makes up for it. I like that people can only knife me when they've earned it, I don't feel like it was a cheap shot. Bit unsure about the flashlights though, sure it makes it hard for me to see you when I'm sighting you, but i know exactly where you are otherwise.

How many maps are actually going to support 64 player conquest mode? Im interested in buying the game for the conquest mode but if they only have like 2 maps then that would be pretty disappointing.
I would guess several, if not a dozen. And more will come out in time.
A lot more than 2, that's for sure!

I've enjoyed the hell out of it but I'll be honest I'm using a sniper and that thing is overpowered as hell!
the commando class is useless unless laying down
medics are immortal, combine them with a shotgun and close quarters and you'll rack up kills like crazy
engineers are rpg maniacs and the destruction they cause is abysmal

overall I've had a couple of problems (falling through the ground, objects disappearing, gun doesn't load even though I can still shoot, and not being able to assign the controller to whatever button I want REALLY sucks) other than that the only thing I hope they change is squad formations, sniper overpower, and knife attacks should only be a knife attack not a separate weapon that's equipped if you stealth kill someone. 6 out of 10 times I would die because the game would equip me with a knife and not let me shoot at a close by enemy after a stealth kill

What I do know I'm gonna hate is the lack of squadbuilding, you can't select which squad to be in and if you join a friend the game could just aswell put you in the other team. Bad part is that they already said this was not a glitch and WILL stay this way.
What?! Are you sure?
Can you show me the quote when they said this?
That'll piss me off if you can't choose your squad/squadmates.

You can do it through battlelog, but if other players have already connected to the server they'll be automaticly assigned to squads, meaning that you can't create additional squads. The jist of it is that unless you and your people are prepared to wait for a server to fill up, it's all coming down to luck.

Not overly impressed with the console beta. I must admit, the weapons feel really tight and punchy which I really like, but everything else seems more Bad company than battlefield.

The graphics are certainly nothing special and the annoying spawn times drive me mad! I admit, im used to cod spawns...ie die and respawn straight away. I think that works better than getting repeatedly spawn sniped, then having to watch the guy for 10 seconds.

My biggest gripe however, is the damn right stick crouch/prone. Why can't you change it? I am very heavy handed, and whenever I am trying to aim at an enemy during a firefight, I repeatedly crouch or prone unwillingly. I wouldn't complain if there was an option to switch it to B! As it stands, it makes the whole experience frustrating rather than fun.

Like, you can still one-Knife kill a guy, but when you do, the game plays through a short animation, during which you can still be shot.
So it's not just a winning strategy, unless you can find people alone.
And if you can, the team who gets knifed deserves what they get.
Is it also true that you have to select the knife as any other weapon? Just like in the olden days? Because I got that idea from another gameplay video, this one. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDcbaR1THPQ&feature=related] If it's true, then huzzah!
If it's like the alpha, you can press a button to knife, or take out your knife.
So what's the advantage of taking your knife out? A shorter kill animation?
The diference is that if you have a gun and whant to knife someone it still takes some time for the character to actually knife the enemy (he will put his gun down, equip the knife and then do the stab but after all that time the enemy may not be in range so you can miss the stab, if you already had the knife equiped you will make the stab instantly so he doesnt get away)

The demo is awesome imo, even though it is full of bugs, but that's natural so I cannot complain. Most of the things that are wrong in the beta are bugs. Like the fact that sometimes a headshot from a bolt-action sniper rifle doesn't kill. I can live with those, since they're going to be patched out.

I play the beta on my Xbox since my PC cannot run it(which is really sad) and the thing that bothers me is the lack of teamplay. People just run around killing each other and don't give a shit about disarming the objective. I also can't remember the last time someone threw me an ammokit or a medickit. Or revived me(though reviving is really hard due to the bugs but still). I know it's just a beta but I just hope that in the game itself people will try to do something else than running around by themselves(this is just my observation from the beta so far).

I played it for about 30 minutes, and my initial impression was to go right back to Bad Company 2, because this feels like a step backwards.
I wish I didn't agree with this, but it mirrors my thoughts exactly. It feels like CoD (which means I might as well buy MWF3 instead) and just doesn't have that clunky 'I'm actually carrying around a 50 pound backpack, plus armaments' feel I found quite endearing.

There's not much I can see that is directly wrong with the game, though, it's just a pretty standard FPS. That's another problem though. It's average.

On the whole, I've decided not to waste my money, and to forget about getting excited about new games anymore until they're actually out.

I like the game, it is just that I find being a defender laughably easy, and on the flip side being an attacker can be quite infuriating.

I have problems playing "teamwork" games with the type of people usually found in online games. There can be four outcomes to this:

You do it right and your team does it right: Everybody wins.

You do it wrong and your team does it right: You might win, but everyone hates you.

You do it right and your team does it wrong: You probably lose, and you hate everyone.

You do it wrong and your team does it wrong: You simply lose, and everyone hates everyone.

Everyone here knows that random teammates can never be consistently relied upon. And then there are griefers, lobbing smoke grenades at your snipers and throwing ammo refills in the lake. They are the reason I prefer to work by myself, Sam Fisher-style, to complete the objective while the rest of my team hangs back and jerks each other off.

I've had it on xbox for a few days now and I'm loving it!
I havent encountered any bugs apart from one persons character model going a little bit crazy...

And as a long term CoD player I find that if I'm playing with a team of friends I prefer to CoD but for lone wolf gameplay CoD is more fun IMHO. Which suits each games reputation I think

Edit: One balancing issue I've encountered is that it seems much easier to defend than attack. On Metro at least :p

Ya that doesnt seem right. When I was starting it up it asked me if I wanted to be put in a squad automatically or join one on my own. You might not be able to choose what team you are on but definitly the squad.
I don't think you can. Because me and 2 friends of mine played together for a few hours yesterday and one of us was always put in a squad with strangers and no matter how hard/long we tried we couldn't link up. Even though we joined the game together

I really loved it! I was always more of a CoD guy, but I loved how it makes you move slower and more tactically in the map. Advancing with the team and going for objectives is very rewarding. Reminded me of the crouch only servers in CoD. Can't wait to play with the vehicles, I remember that was my favorite part back when I played BF1.

It's pretty good besides the glitches and I'm having fun with it. Sucks that they chose that map to showcase it though.

People keep saying that they chose Operation Metro to 'showcase' BF3, but...

This is a beta. They probably chose Operation Metro because it was the buggiest map they had...

Just so you know, the thing with the knife, the ammo box, and the med kit being held like a regular weapon is actually a feature, not a bug. You can ready grenades like that, too. It allows you to use them more quickly, and is also a feature going all the way back to 1942, which didn't allow for one button grenades, knifing, or anything else.
Oh, fair enough. My friend said that the ammo and med box were bugs since he's played more of the games than me, so I assumed they were too.
