Its hard to find a game, the interface is terrible, and I'm lagging everywhere. The destruction is almost completely gone, my bipod will only deploy when I don't want it to, and prone is all kinds of unbalanced. I wasn't planning only getting it anyway since I was burnt out on BC2. This is just letting me know I'm making the right choice.

It's taking a huge amount of will power, but I am not playing as then I would have to use the spyware loaded piece of rubbish that is Origin.

So Battlefield 3 is the battle of will power for me.
Godspeed, noble soldier.

Love the game, hate how I have to use goddamn beta drivers for my gpu...
Seeing as the goddamn beta drivers keep crashing.

And the fact that after a match the game hogs all the CPU usage and get a mayor ass memory leak upping 1million...

I'm just waiting for my computer to fry.

Well I played it for a little while. Probably about 20 mins in the last hour or so... it doesn't appear to like my 560Ti. It runs flawlessly for 2-10 mins and then dies. Goes to desktop but leaves the game "running" but not openable.

Beta drivers + beta game + really shitty browser app means I shouldn't be surprised that it's hard to get into.

Seems fun though, and from what I've seen (in videos) of the map with vehicles it would be enjoyable. I'd need to see a demo that doesn't crash with my setup (be it a DICE or NVIDIA fix) and some improvements to the browser garbage (preferably remove it altogether but that won't happen) before I'd be willing to buy the game though.

Tried for 30min to join a game, kept telling me "Error Loading"( After that I had to quit to the dashboard), so I couldn't even play so I'm not buying it anymore. Cancelled the Preorder this afternoon and preorder Batman:AC

You do understand this is a beta, yeah? That problem will most likely be fixed in the released game.

The beta was, is, fun. I haven't had any connection issues AT ALL and I have played the beta a fair bit. IT IS A BETA though, so it is not nepresentative of the final product! They took out the vehicles on Opertaion Metro and there are still issues with balancing and spawn places at the moment. Based on what I have heard, I seem to be the sole person who has had literally experienced no problems what so ever during the beta.

Cannot wait till access to Caspian Border, it looks so beast :D

I haven't played the beta but from what I have seen it looks a lot more like COD now. Have they made it more similar to that because if so I may have to pass on this game.
Its just the map DICE choose for people to test the servers for them. They took out the APC that was there in the Alpha and dumbed down the graphics so everyone can enjoy the only 1GB download. It is going to be so much better in the full release, and I have a feeling the the Operation Metro map will turn out to be the smallest of them all.

I'm not very fond of the launching from a browser. I didn't like having to update my drivers to a beta driver(but I can deal with it). I don't like falling through the map on the first section. I don't like all the prone players just hanging out in the bushes and waiting for me run around a corner. I don't like how the kill cam is so close you have absolutely no clue where said bush dwellers were camping. I don't like constantly being disconnected from a game for no reason and basically losing any xp I would have gained.

I liked the BF:BC2 and the MoH betas far more.

Ok, but CoD is superior. It may be a beta but it's less than a month til it'll release so it has to have gone gold already if not then very, very soon.

Way too many glitches and bugs for things that should've been caught earlier. Clipping through objects, killcams commonly going outside the map, annoying things like not being able to do anything with your classes or in the main menu while dead and forced to watch a 5 second kill-cam, good ol' hit detection, very difficult to stay in a squad with your friends without it breaking up, not very responsive controls, reload and stand/crouch/prone animations glitching out, very often I had the ambient sound cut out after dying while suppressed so my sound was acting like I was being suppressed for all of my next life off spawn, no vehicles in a BATTLEFIELD demo/beta...

Far more annoyed than pleased.

I played it for about 30 minutes, and my initial impression was to go right back to Bad Company 2, because this feels like a step backwards. Gameplay wise, its the same old shit - however, the maps on offer are a disaster of poor design and the gameplay here has changed far too much to be called a true sequel to the terrific Battlefield 2. This is what everyone feared it would be: Battlefield of Duty.

Visually, everything has a... sheen to it. Character models have strange illumination highlights that make them look like plastic, and it really underplays the detail on offer. Its kind of blurry, but in a strange way that Bad Company 2 didn't have, that makes the package frankly unattractive. The graphics aren't "bad" - all the detail you love is there - they're simply not very nice to look at thanks to some poor design choices.

Control wise, everything feels like its floating around and unattached. Bad Company 2 had real weight to your character, gun and movement. You felt like a physical person in a physical place. Battlefield 3, on the other hand, feels like there's no feedback to your movement and gun play in real way. It's all very... subtle, but it adds up. It clearly been done to make the game "smoother" for the CoD crowd, where you're bunny hoping around, and frankly it takes away from what Battlefield was originally about. Considering we're still supposed to sit back and hide from snipers and scoped rifles (read: everyone) the fact that you now move like an energiser bunny really begs the question: are we playing a fast paced action game, or a slower paced tactical shooter? You can't have it both ways.
This is probably my biggest complaint with the actual game: it just doesn't FEEL good to play.

Presentation wise, everything is just too "IN YOUR FACE". Kill a guy, BOOM, neon lights across the bottom of your screen for 10 seconds. The kill tracker in the corner is about 5 sizes too big, and it honestly distracts from the actual game part of the experience. The menus are nice, however you can't cancel out of anything. You have to wait until your in a game to actually do anything. This results in a lot of standing around initially, and a lot of unrequired deaths. This leads me to the biggest issue with the whole thing:

The Battlelog crap is a deal breaker for me. And considering I installed Origin, that should really tell you something.
It's cumbersome, invasive, difficult to understand because they've decided to ignore basically every industry standard for menus, and it in no way improves upon the experience of the end user. On top of this, its slow, glitchy as fuck (Server is full? It has 15/32 players!) and is poorly laid out, badly designed and the simple look of it all is just unattractive.

I was actually on the fence about Battlefield 3, leaning towards an early purchase. Thanks to the open beta, I know to keep Bad Company 2 installed and just ignore this CoD wannabe that feels the need to tie you into your internet browser on top of EA's Origin. Honestly, whats the point of having a fucking program required to install and play the game, if you're just going to then send your players to the internet before they can even actually launch the fucking game?

DICE and EA literally just handed Activision Blizzard the prize they were so badly trying to steal away. Battlefield 3 is the end of the series; it's all CoD from here.
Sad, considering all the hype they tried to build for it.

Disappointing. It's trying to copy Modern Warfare when it should have kept a lot of the elements from Battlefield 1943 and 2, and ditch the ugly motion sickness inducing Bad Company.

I think DICE would have been better off not putting out a beta at all. MoH beta really killed that game's potential to be a good seller....Overall..I'd say meh..not getting it. It's cod...but with tacticalness shoe horned in. It's trying to be fast paced with team playing involved. Unfortunately not everyone can keep up and you just get a clusterfuck. Two competing ideas, both with their own fans, one very wishy washy game. Off my buy list.

i'm not big multiplayer fps person, i played PS3 version. i got in, shoot some people, then died, then shoot some more, usually in general direction where everyone was shooting, it's so hard to make out who is who at first glance. i liked first part of map more it's open and bright the merto part suck it's so dark and hectic. it was ok nothing new.
