So I've got BF3 disks.
I load the disk click on install it has picture of Battlefield. Normal install window comes up but in Russian. Even thought my system is English it opens up install in Russian without giving me a choice to switch language ... ok
Then it asks me if I want to install Origin. I am thinking fuck no. I have no idea whats this Origin and I really do not want an extra piece of software on my pc. I open up disk directory but looks like I have to install Origin... ok. I install it. Click on disk setup again. Now it asks me if I want to update Origin... ummm no? Then I have an option to quit. So I go to firewall and block all off the exe access to the Internet. Go to install Battlefield it once again asks me to update and apparently is not blocked by Win 7 vanilla firewall. Now I am worried but ok FINE you win do your update. It reinstalls Origin again. I click on setup for 10th time thinking now I can finally install Battlefield! Um nope. Now I need to register with origin?! Ok what the fuck. I have retail disk... What is this register with Origin?! Ok now I stop being lazy open up the internet and look up wtf is this Origin. After reading I definitely do not want it on my computer so I guess I am going to look for alternative ways to install this or just go exchange this for Uncharted 3 and never buy another EA game that wont be hacked so its without Origin. Seriously requiring internet for game installation off retail disk is just stupid.

How many game management programs do I need on my pc?! There is Steam already out there trying to invade. Whats next Ubisoft will require some kind of uplay type of program and so will every major game publisher?! Are you kidding me? All I want is install my game play it for a while delete every trace of it and sometimes back up my save files. Is that too much to ask?! God damn you EA.

Where have you been the past few months? Origin has been around for a small amount of time now, and the anger its causing should have been spread to all corners of the Internet.

Yep, it's unnecessary, it's not as good as Steam, it's just an extra bit of software to slow your PC down. I have no clue why it exists, it's pretty much Steam but all the good parts of Steam are apparently removed.

I guess you've been under a rock, but you also have to install a browser plug-in to get into multiplayer games, and people say it can take 10-15 minutes to actually get into the game.

Shame they saddle otherwise great games with crap like this. GTA IV is another. In its current state to play multiplayer you have to run GTA IV, Alt-Tab back to the desktop, run Rockstar Social Club, then go back to GTA IV. And the Rockstar Social Club is a special one I found a link to on the Internet, not the one that came with the game.

The latest patch (1.0.7.0) uninstalls Rockstar Social Club, you can just jump right into multiplayer now.

I doubt any other developers will follow this lead though.

If youre lucky you even can install it.... Its a hell connecting to origin right now.

And I find it extra annoying that you have to login twice, to play BF3.

Yeah Origin is pretty annoying, and the plugin too... and then launching the games via browser... seems kinda stupid.
But seriously, you should have known about this... if you read the install things it would tell you what you needed. How to install and all that. You're complaining about a horrible install when you've basically gone and blocked things you needed. Which you should have known about...

anyway. It's annoying, but it's the way shit works.

Its just another way to control the costumers as much as it is to stop piracy. It's bull all round, Steam is enough for me.

I'm actually going to defend Dice's browser, it's fast and simple. But I have to connect through origin to get there, only to login again, now thats stupid.
