I think Origin will be the best for all of us in the end.

Why? Because Steam has not had any real competition up till this point, and will force Valve and EA to find better and cheaper ways to do everything.

In the end, the consumer wins.
Steam always has been doing awesome sales and giving awesome customer service even before it has Microsoft as a competitor. Microsoft's digital distribution program is enough considering they aren't pulling out exclusive stunts like EA.
Edited: For the people who use the $ ^.^

When Origin sells EA exclusive games and Steam sells non EA games it's not competition. Want to know why? BECAUSE THEY AREN'T SELLING THE SAME THINGS!!!

I love how they're always talking about how they're going to beat Modern Warfare 3, and then they pull this. Because we always know that the best way to get tons of sales is to not put your game up for sale on a really popular platform like Steam. I wonder when they'll announce that the console versions won't be sold in big name retail chains like GameStop, Walmart, and Best Buy or online sites like Amazon and that you'll have to order it from two obscure sites nobody's ever heard of or EA themselves.
*Walks into GameStop and looks around for BF3, then goes up to counter.*

Me: Where's Battlefield 3 for ps3? (console version for the sake of the thing.)

Clerk: Oh Sorry, we don't have any of those, you will need to drive that newly made: Origin Store that only sells EA games. We will no longer have EA games in stock.

Me: How many people know about Origins?

Clerk: Beats me, I think your the thirtyth person I told.

-----------

Can't wait for this to happen.
This situation doesn't make sense, why would someone ask for the ps3 version and then start acting like they want the PC version? Origin doesn't effect 360 or PS3 users..

Or nobody buys from Origin, it totally flops, EA returns to Steam and in the end, nothing changes for the consumer, only that they didn't buy EA's games for a year or 2.

Do you really want to have a different distribution service and account for each and every publisher?

I did cancel my pre-booked bf3 when I heard I would not be able to install games that used Origin one year after I first activated them.
Can't read anything about the retail version, just about downloads. And it's not like I was going to use Origin anyway. Care your own grave for all I care EA, I'll just stick with good digital distributors.

Eh, relax, just buy it from Direct2Drive if you really want the game in digital form. Or just buy it in a (web)shop. It's not like Origin's failure and it's lack of availability on Steam will affect your gameplay.

Wait what? Once a key is activated on Origin its only good for a year before having to buy it again or something? Am I getting this right? You have a source?
If a game is inactive on your account for 24 months it is removed. Because, yano, all that virtual space they've got to pay for....

(Yeah, we don't get it either.)

Not sure if that's what he's on about.

OT: They're just locking off a consumer-base for themselves.

I only buy pc games on Steam, and if they don't have it there im not buying it.. Easy as..

So they are at least excluding me as a customer..

Not in a million years are they gonna outrun Modern Warfare now, even though i actually wanted them to before they pulled this stunt..

Awesome service like pricing everything 30% higher than every other place? As long as Steam keeps it stupid $=? I can't even call there service decent.

Can EA just disappear and die already? It's like everything they do is intended to ruin the gamers' day. Orgin will make it a pain in the ass because EA's existing download service was a pain in the ass.
Seriously, and this coming right after hearing about Steam's upgrade, too.

ARG! I wants it on steam EA come on!!!
They are obviously doing this so as to try and get people to sign up for origin since it is such a massively hyped game, but that's the point, it's TOO big. They need to get this game in every store possible, and afterwards make The Old republic exclusive instead. You will lose money and players EA come on!!!

Steam and Origin are not the only places you can download games from. Who cares about Steam anyway? They're far from the best place you can download games.

In other news, people are idiots.
