Hi, i recently lost my friend on Xbox and since then i am thinking if i should get it just on the PC. I mean, ok i would have achievements but thats about it.
My only problem is, i have XP (32/64) and not sure if its supported. So i might have to upgrade.

What would everyone recommend me?

p.s. on console you have to pay for everything. On the pc it used to be free but maybe that changed. The last time i bought something for the pc was HL2/Portal.

You're going to need Vista or Windows 7 to play Battlefield 3. And pretty much every other PC game that's coming out. I'd get it for PC since the PC version is going to have the 64 player battles.

I'm personally going to go for the PC version (assuming I can get a hold of a quad-core processor within the next few weeks), but you should probably just pick the platform that most of your friends will be playing on. The PC might have the "complete" experience, but it's arguably not worth the extra $100-300 in upgrades required to make it look its best.

Just for the origin thing, I'm going to say go with the Xbox version because that version doesn't spy on you!

The Origin EULA was updated a little while back after complaints. The Escapist just didn't seem to feel the need to do an article about it.

Please do not create threads that will inevitably cause flame wars.
Platform V. Platform threads are the most obvious of this kind.

Ok then, I guess if you already have a PC that can run it well then go for the PC if not then go for the Xbox because I don't think it's worth upgrading you're PC just for this game.

PC for graphics you could dump your girlfriend for.
Xbox for whiny little brats that spam "HACKER" in the mic every 10 seconds.

That is terrific news. A big miss to not make a news item about this. This was what was holding me back. I still won't buy games on Origin because their prices are not competitive with retail, but it is weight off my mind. I guess I will pick up Battlefield 3 and Mass Effect 3 now.

OT: Upgrade your PC and sell your Xbox, come over to the dark geeky side.

haha wow what a stupid comment...yeah sure BF 3 isn't, but maybe the myriad of other PC games that are coming out might be. I mean Skyrim looks good, Although Deus Ex is pretty much a shitty shadow of the original Deus Ex, it still would look pretty with DX 12 capable cards

I'd say it all depends on exactly how much you'd have to upgrade your computer to run it.
Although, they just started a thing where if you pre-order now, you get dead space 2 for free.
Which completely dicks over everyone who ordered really early, but whatever.

Personally I think it is, if you have the money of course.

It would run much smoother on PC, better graphics, more players and better control.

Then again, you are paying much more for a single game. Then again you could also get games like Skyrim for it.

Your choice OP.
this argument is as old as it is wrong anyway. you don't need a four digit monster pc to play modern games. if the five year old xbox hardware can handle it, a dirt cheap medium power pc can do it easily too. it will, of course, look like ass then. just like on the xbox with the same power.

personally, i'll get it for pc, simply because consoles will only get the smaller versions of the maps, less players, and if the past has taught us anything, sucky netcode. plus the idea of playing a game of precise aiming with a thumbstick makes my teeth hurt.

True it probably isn't worth upgrading your PC just to play Battlefield 3. But it's probably worth it to also play Fallout 3, New Vegas, Morrowind, Oblivion and of course Skyrim. Just for the awesome mods. Like fighting He-Man alongside Chuck Norris.

Feature and fidelity wise BF3 will be superior on the PC but if you prefer gaming on the console or don't have a computer up to the task then go ahead and play it on Xbox or PS3.

I'd be getting it on PC, more players bigger maps, etc etc. But if you have no interest in playing more PC games it might not be worth it.

I think if your PC can run it you definitely should go PC. I'm going Xbox, though, because I have a laptop that doesn't really play games.
