What are your opinions on the rent a server in BF3?

Have you ever rented one?
Do you like/hate it?

I don't see why EVERY single server I go on bans shotguns :| why is this?

I think it is just 'cos they seem unfair when you get in a one on one against a guy with one in close quarters ... of course they don't consider they die a lot in every other situation.

They just don't like being one shotted, while not considering how the shotgun requires some thinking to use.

Short sighted people ban them

MLG types, probably. They think shotguns are unfair. You ask me, you deal with it, or play a different game.

The problem with rent a server is buying the ability to completely unbalance the game. Higher tickets, for example. If there's 400 tickets, the defending team in rush is probably going to lose, because eventually, their defence will give way. There needs to be options, yes, but not ones that break the game.

Also, I miss the official servers. I want an option to easily find a normal battlefield 3 game, not having to go through multiple servers to find one some idiot hasn't completely messed up.

Nah its cos ppl spent most of the games life using overpowered automatic shotguns with explosive rounds that needed no skill to use. Run into an area shooting the ground and the slash dmg would clear the room. Since they left it rampant for so long everyone hates the sight of them.

I've been kicked from servers twice for sniping. There were no restrictions on sniping and in both games the side I was on was getting their asses kicked. Basically, I sniped somebody and they ragekicked me.

Edit: In case I wasn't clear, I don't like them.

Paying extra for shit that was a standard feature in PC games since the start... modern gaming in a nutshell.
