The players of the battlefield series may be used to this, but as a new player to the series, why do all the weapons in the game look ridiculous? The rest of the game looks and plays great, and I think that if the weapons took a leaf out of CoD4's book, then this would be an even better game than it already is.

i've mentioned it before but the thing that bugged me were the bunny hopping duffel bags that would spring out of corpses whenever you killed somebody.

it just looked arcadey and rediculous

i don't think it was bad design the guns don't look that bad and the duffel bags are classic to every other battlefield game they weren't the exact same but something like it but i don't get why people complain about the little things its still an amazing game.

If you look at the guns on this game compared to the guns in real life and on other combat game, cosidering the vehicles are so realistic, it doesn't seem like they tried. Although I agree with your point about the duffel bags being classic to all the games.

If I was making a game like Bad Company, I'd try to make it as silly as physically possible. It's more fun that way.

I'd also like to say GONE GONZO BITCHAZ! YEAH! YEAH! GET SOME!

Geeze took you long enough.

As for Bad Company. I would blame nearly every aspect of it. The guns were rediculous as the game told you what you could use. I wanted a pistol and shotgun combo, but nooOOoo, Mr BC doesn't like that. The level design was just plain annoying having to walk so far to the next stop (which was still more funner than driving) and when you did have to drive, there were so many tanks and tank traps, it was easier to just outrun them. The characters were unlikable and it was up to YOU to do EVERYTHING. Drive here, fix this, bomb this, do this, bend over *****! You were the games dog and I hated that!

On the possitive side you could blow up walls.

I know this sounds obnoxious, but you're not really supposed to take it seriously. The game is meant to be over the top, outrageous, and as far away from reality as possible. I know how you feel though. It's one of those games that you don't really like until that one crazy friend comes over who laughs his ass off playing it. After that, you sorta get into the right mind set for it.

Plus, I mean, c'mon, you can blow up walls.

Well, there IS a picture of a grenade with a smiley face on it on the box art, that should give a slight hint that the game may be a bit silly.

I kinda like the single player; and I just wish there was more to the multiplayer. Imagine if they combined the elements of bullet penetration from COD 4 into it. Wouldn't that be awesome?
And what about more gameplay types?!

It seems to me that it was rushed out the door; it IS a fun game, but it lacks just that little bit extra.

There is bullet penetration. It's called blowing up the wall.

I thought the guns looked pretty fine, and somewhere between
Haggard single handedly invaded a neutral country and taking a tank over a golf course to then help a dictator escape his country in a pimped out Mil Mi-24 you were meant to realise it was over the top and silly.

on another note though the sounds sounded incredible, my personal favourite was hearing the water slush about in your canteen when you sprint (I think they did that on COD4 but not as well)

i didn't know that over the top cartoony action was a common aesthetic in Battlefield games.

i'm a design whore, so jumping duffel bags the size of a human body is something that nags at me and pulls me out of the experience. like Halo, i know it's a fun game but the bland level design and horrible art design just makes me feel like i'm driving a neon pink ferrari with teal colored stripes.

in the same way, i just couldn't get into Battlefield. it was fun for a little bit but once all the key spots and bottle necks became apparent, it was just another bad looking but fun shooter.

On the positive side you could blow up walls.
On the negitive side anyone behind said wall that you blew up was unharmed by the explosion. I found that stupid and unrealistic, especially if that wall is a CHAIN LINK FENCE. I'm serious, I was fighting an enemy soldier who was simply strafing across a chain link fence and I was busy lobing pin-point gernade launcher rounds at him. BOOM! Still moving. BOOM! Still moving. BOOM! Still moving. I finally got fed up with it, charged thru one of the holes and blew him away but I shouldn't HAVE TO.

Yeah, I know, I know. When I played this game all the flaws in it were so blazingly obvious that it wasn't until one of my friends started yelling at me for being an obnoxious cynic that I tried to find my inner Tiny Tim and have fun with it. I dunno...sometimes I wonder if I'm going to wake up and turn into a Scrooge of gaming. I guess I just wanted to defend it because it's fun over a six pack and I thought it was witty at times.

guns were kinda badly done since in multiplayer each assault rifle is only SLIGHTLY different (no different clip sizes, fire modes etc). come on the M16 was FULL AUTO. and as was said before you couldnt use a pistol + any other kit weapon...only recon class.
also is it just me that felt let down by the "blow up anything" clause. i mean walls being hit by explosives dont make a hole in it dependent on firepower and where it hit. nope walls blow up in sections so hit SLIGHTLY left and you could blow up the wrong part of wall.
speaking of which explosive weapons were kinda weak - direct hit from a grenade launcher in multiplayer - NO KILL he turns while you reload and unloads a clip in you. since thats how many rounds it takes to kill
i wanted a free to blow up BF2 game. i was let down
BF Heroes looks like comical silly fun though ^^

I'm really not sure what you are talking about. The weapons in the game look pretty much like their real-life counterparts.

http://battlefieldbadcompany.com/?p=46

Take a look at the gun designs in Bad Company and then google the corresponding weapons. All of them are pretty much an exact replica of the actual gun, save for paint and colors.

Also, even if they weren't true to the original designs, the orgasmic sounds in Bad Company would make up for it. Best gunfire sounds in any FPS I have ever played.

I don't think BC is poorly designed. I just think that I've been spoiled by CoD4.

I mean, when I first played BC, it pissed me off because I had no clue where I was getting killed from most of the time without my precious kill cam (which I watch most of the time). It's just a shift.

When I explained the game to a friend, I said it was a cross between CoD4 and Halo 3: you have the arcade shooter feel like in Halo 3 in which you can shoot someone a bunch and they won't die, or you can blow up a wall and they won't die, but on the other side I think that the guns are a lot more realistic like in CoD4. You have to play to your gun's strength--if it's good at long range, then use it as such, because if you try and go against a SMG, you'll lose.

Good game, just takes some getting used to.

They're bringing out a "Conquest" mode soon. If you go on "Multiplayer" and go on something like "Awards" or "Stats" you can see writing scrolling acroos the top of th screen. There's more information there.

My opinion on the whole "unrealistic" type of thing is:

BF:BC is only unrealistic in some ways, and they are:

? When people die, a big duffel bag with all of their stuff in randomly appears.
? You can jump out of a helicopter, no matter how high up, and survive as long as you jumped in water. I mean, c'mon! you dont even go underwater or anything!

I don't think that the guns look unrealistic. But hey, I know nothing about wars and guns.

BF:BC is slightly wacky, here are my reasons why I think this:

a) There's a smiley face on the grenade ring. A SMILEY FACE!!!
b) The dialogue throughtout the whole game is very funny, lots of weird things are said in this game.
c) There's destructable environments! They basically revolve the game around that; blowing holes in walls to shoot at the enemy, use it to your advantage etc.

*Looks at what I've just written* Yeah, I have a habit of writing alot. It's like a bloody essay.

Anyways.... Yeah, I reckon even if it is unrealistic, it's only a tiny bit of the awesome game. And lots of great things make up for it.

:]
