Battlefield has made me better at COD

Since vietnam came out, i have been spending alot of time on Battlefield. When i was invited to play search and destroy on Black ops, I was playing alot better than usual. I found myself last alive and 9 times out of ten i won the game for my team. Anyone else had this sort of cross-game training?

Yeah, i had the same thing. Though it doesn't work vice versa. So your very good at, say, Black Ops, it doesn't mean your going to be good at , say, Bad Company 2.

I haven't played much COD, but I know the Battlefield games incorporate bullet drop and fairly realistic physics compared to other shooters (minus stupid bunny-hoppers), so maybe the realism helps with other games. I feel like I have to lead a target while sniping in Battlefield far more than other shooters.

If you're playing one samey-brown fps game, wouldn't it make sense that you'd also be getting better at another samey-brown fps game? Makes sense to me.

Not necessarily, because the mechanics behind both games are vastly different, it's something you would need to play in order to understand. Although there are skills that carry over, such as twitch-reflexes.

I find that the one factor that decides victory in FPS games is not the mechanics of the game, what gun you have, what gun they have, who has the better ping, who has the better computer, or any of that. I find the single most important determining factor is who saw who first. The Battlefield games therefore might make you a bit better at other shooters because in a Battlefield game the maps are very expansive (they don't conform to typical "two-exit" multiplayer arena design) and thus there are typically more places to hide, perhaps this is good training for other shooters where these options may not appear as obvious at first.
