Y'know this entire thing can be summed up by the games' logos. The new one looks like complete dogshit compared to the original.

That music was some of the worst I've heard, and that was before the lyrics started.
Them's fightin' words.
That's funny, I could swear I remember the last tsar saying that once!

Wow...that was quick! Just recently made into a mod and you're already mad with power! :p

Oh come on guys, we all know that as games become more advanced and better looking you have to cut features because they are much harder to implement. We can't seriously expect a game series to have more content than its previous iterations.

I mean, look at GTA 5.... wait.... bad example..... ok, the Witcher..... wait no........ Ok, Metal Gear for sure..... hold up.... nope Phantom Pain looks like its gunna be huge.....

So what was EA's excuse again?

Don't suppose either of you know what the song is? Spent a while looking up the lyrics but apparently a 100 different songs have it in them already.
I think it's this song here:

Anything involved with Evangelion ends up being automatically worse to me... But I guess I'm just one of those NGE haters. Its fine though, I've been waiting for the internet to lynch mob me for years anyway... its about time I gave them a reason.

OT: I'll wait til the game is released, before I make a judgment. Even if its EA, I still have to wait because I can't say yay/nay on something without having at least seen it being played or played it myself.

Yeah, even if half the info on that list for the new Battlefront is false, EA/DICE is still going to have to do a lot to convince me to get this game. That includes guaranteeing me that it wont be an unplayablely buggy piece of shit at launch like Battlefield 3 and 4 apparently were.

Don't we call this "streamlining" now, or something? It's a reboot, streamlined for the newer braindead consuming masses. Streamlining all that tasty currency into EA's fund grinder so they can snort the end powder while shouting at their dancing bears to dance faster upon their spindle towers in the sky.
Streamlining is taking out pointlessly complex or dumb features to make things easier to use. This is not streamlining. This is willfully choosing to not implement aspects of a predecessor.

I barely sort of understand DICE's ideas here. Having a laser tight focus on a certain aspect of the game can, in theory, make the game really fuckin good. However they've now put themselves in the worst corner possible. If the game is not flawless after making a huge deal about how they wanted this laser tight focus and how they only wanted to concentrate on this specific version of Star Wars to make it perfect then god damnit it better be fuckin perfect. If its not, they wont be able to justify the garbage they spewed about how spreading themselves out to include everything would make certain aspects bad.

But I also think you guys are being way too negative. We haven't seen any gameplay yet, but people are already calling it a failure. The comparisons with Battlefront 2 are also a bit unfair. The number of maps especially.
Why is comparing a game to it's predecessor "unfair"? Especially considering it's predecessor came out 10 years ago with nowhere near the technological capabilities we have today? Beyond that, I can already tell you what the gameplay is going to be like: generic 1st/3rd Person Shooter with Star Wars Theme.

What made BFII so great were all the features that this BF is going to be lacking. Space Battles. Tons of Vehicles. Numerous Hero Units. Galactic-frickin'-Conquest. Hell, even the Campaign was pretty entertaining while this one looks like it's just going to be a Multiplayer Only (a format that has failed miserably every time it's been tried in the past couple years).

The biggest sin in my eyes is still the lack of the prequel factions. Say what you want about the movies, but the droids were my favorite team back in BFII...now they're gone.
I dont find comparing the two unfair, but the actual comparisons being made. For example, the number of maps. People seem to have forgotten the reason that Battlefront 2 had so much content was because it was essentially a copy and paste of the original. Quite a lot of the maps were recycled from Battlefront.

And again, we know practically nothing about the game yet. Tons of vehicles? How do you know there wont be plenty of vehicles as well in the reboot? They have an entire mode, Attack Squadron, that is based entirely on vehicle combat. Kind of their replacement for Space Assault.

The Hero Units? I don't know what the hell that is about, the picture in the mock website wasnt too clear. There will obviously be more than just two Hero characters, if thats what they mean.

There will be the "Missions" that could possibly replace the Campaign. It certainly sounds like the Campaign. The BF2 campaign was essentially multiplayer with goals, or a really big practice mode. That is what the Missions are said to be for.

The rest could be replaced by new modes or something. We dont know yet. The absence of Space Battles to me is the only valid argument right now. There is no reason for it to not be in the game. It was what made Battlefront 2 more than just a cash grab and new paint job.

I will miss the prequel era though. The Clones were my favorite as a kid. I mean, I understand why they didnt include them, but I still dont like it.

As I said, it isnt fair to be so negative towards the game when we haven't even seen gameplay. I will admit that trying to stay positive about the game is getting increasingly hard, but hopefully at E3 DICE will show just what exactly they have done for the game.

And the reason they can't just copy-paste again as a foundation for this new game is...?

That's where the issue is coming from here. BFII had all this great stuff...now we're being told that all the great stuff that was in the previous game won't be in the newer game.

Funhaus did a great video on this:

This video rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I'm reading into it, but it seems to contain a level of dismissivness that I disapprove of.

Plus they seem to be getting all hot and bothered over the battle of Jakku, having not seen it. Which is okay, but getting upset about things you haven't seen yet is not okay. For somehow.

Then help me out here, why did they not include them? No mocking inflection or disdain here, I really don't know why. Time, maybe?

Because they needed time to put in those amazing graphics

it doesn't matter if you're game runs at 5 fps with has shallow gameplay and having a fuckton of glitches they think people will eat it up if it looks good.

Pretty sure time is part of it, as they want to watch it alongside the next Star Wars movie.

Which is dumb. But then, why make a good, feature complete game and release it later when you can make a shallow, glitchy POS and make just as much money?

Funhaus did a great video on this:

Thanks for this video! If this is the best attempt at rebutting initial fears for Battlefront 3 that it is considered a "great" video then it seems there is little hope for BF3.

The youtubers get pretty much every argument wrong or read the graph too literally , ex: no one doubts there will be more then 8 maps on 4 planets...as DLC (which was one of the listed categories in the graph too). This category was for how many maps are available at launch, out of the box, not how many will become available once you get all the map packs.
The reddit thing they linked confirmed it in that only the first DLC will be free. Way to prove our point. Also wtf are these people excited about? We have been playing major battles that haven't been show in star wars film in previous battlefronts too without so much fuss (my own personal favorite being the assault on Polis Massa) for years.

I particularly LOVED when they get smarmy that AT-STs are drivable and telling us to suck it when the graph says AT-AT , not AT-ST.
Still at least they are right on ONE thing, we do know At-ST and speeder bikes are drivable so the graph should be updated in that regard.

Yeah, I saw about 5mins of gameplay of a pre-alpha build once. It was for a game...Colonial Mariners or something. Had a big black alieny thing. With like a chase scene and guns and good AI. Something like that.
And I can't for the life of me imagine that game didn't live up to all the hype, everywhere, and received all the awards from all the sites. Because why would a AAA developer want us to buy a game before its completed if they weren't 100% positive it was the Citizen Kane of games? Surely DICE and EA have out best interests at heart.

Seriously though, Funhaus...I always thought better of you. For shame.

10/10 website.

In particular I found this comment simultaneously hillarious and sad because its so true:
"East AR Wars is the most highly anticipated game of the generation, until it was actually announced that is."

The list of dead studios hit me right in the heart though. So sad.
