Anyone else here play it? We played it for the first time last night and then continued to play it 3 more times after that. Loved it. I enjoyed the show to being with and the game definitely captures the essences of the show.

I like a lot of complex board games myself like Descent Journey into Darkness, Space Truckers and Space Conquest and find the betrayal aspect of it strangely appealing. If you play it right, you can pretend to fail and win at the same time. Then you just get to fuck everyone over after a long while.

That one's kinda hit-and-miss. I played a game that was finished in a couple of rounds. Within a few rounds, with barely any additional rooms, we learned that someone was burried. In nearly 3 turns we had him dug up and we won. The whole affair took, maybe, 20 minutes. But games can also take hours upon hours and get really boring. But when you have a good game, it's good fun.

As for Battlestar, yeah I love the boardgame too, but you really need good players to play it with as the metagame, the whole suspicion and subterfuge thing, takes quite a bit of effort and skill to play it right. But yes, because of that it does convey the feeling of the show really well. Then again, at the same time, it means it can also get as violent as the show did... Monopoly making people rage? Battlestar can get ten times as bad.

I might stay away from House on the Hill then. Last Night on Earth and BSG will keep me busy for awhile anyway.

Speaking as someone who has owned both the first and the second editions of Betrayal, I can pretty much assume that you played the 1st edition (it would have been in a red box) and not the the second edition (it's in a green box). Am I right or am I wrong? The second edition fixes many of the bugs and balance issues that were present in the first edition. My friends and I love to play this game for hours at a time and after having played every scenario in the game at least twice I can say that never did it take more than two hours (unless you're teaching people to play). The average time for each game was around 45 - 75 minutes of great fun. Also I want to say that this game is defiantly more fun with the more people you having playing it. It's really a must to have all 6 characters active on the board or else the scenarios are a bit out of balance sometimes (although it's nearly all been fixed since the first edition). This is a board game that even my friends who DON'T like to play board games like, so take that for what it is.
