I found it going for just $20 NZ so I've ordered it and am expecting it to be here tomorrow, after ordering I only then found out the game has some screen tearing issues etc.

From what I understand, they did patch the thing, but how well does it run now? I can only find info from about two years ago, anyone here know what it's like now? I know I'm late to the party, but am I just better off getting it for my 360, or should the PS3 one be fine?

I personally didn't have as much of an issue as others seemed to have. The load times can be annoying, but they never bothered me; you can download the patch and use the install option to shorten the load times. I never noticed screen tearing or anything else, so as long as you get the patch and download your PS3 version should be fine.
Cool, thanks for that. A friend told me he had issues with it on his ps3 ages ago, he since had sold it so I couldn't try it first.

Just played it recently post-update on the ps3. My session was near flawless. Load times are frequent, but short enough now where they're bearable (plus you can practice combos in them which is always fun). I remember only two moments of slowdown during fights, both earlier on in tutorial-like areas so no real harm done. The motorcycle chapter had a wee bit of texture pop/draw-distance issues, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

Wow thanks for this thread, cuz I was wondering the same thing myself.

Been meaning on getting the game for the ps3 since my 360 broke down.

I still don't own this, and I'm considering buying it, but I have some questions, too. Does the PS3 version still run at 30FPS? I have a 360 around the house, it'll just be a pain to get it out and set it up. I may as well get the 360 version if the game is running at twice the frame rate, though.

I'm pretty sure the game runs at the same frame rate on both consoles. The PS3 just has more loading and a bit of a washed out look in comparison to the 360 version as far as I am aware.

Yeah, the PS3 version does have issues. The game is still sexist, has a poor story and run-of-the-mill hack-and-slash combat.

I know the PS3 version ran at a lower frame-rate, at least initially. Digital Foundry found it was consistently half the 360 version. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-bayonetta-faceoff?page=2

Just wondering if that had been fixed, or if it even could be.

well yeah, it's not as slow, clunky and mired with poor camera angles as DMC4 is. thankfully DMC 2013 is a great game
If by great you mean tonally inconsistent, repetitive, monotonous combat, and peppered with the lamest bosses in all of the genre, then sure.

My only problem with PS3 version of Bayonetta was (somewhat) slow load of background textures, nothing more.

Let's not revive this thing, shall we?

Funny enough I was in the same boat 4 months back. Got Bayonetta for PS3 and was literally petrified by all the rumors about the screen tearing and issues behind it. As for if the issues are still prevalent, NOPE, game ran smoothy and load times are bearable. Also thanks a lot for this thread... you now put me in the mood to play the damn thing a 46th time.

I've heard the PS3 version is just fine post-patch as long as you haven't played the 360 version. I've only played (and platinumed) Bayonetta on PS3 and it is easily my favorite game on PS3. I only had one area of slowdown on the PS3 version that affected gameplay and it was on NSIC climax in an area where it was raining, I'm guessing it was due to NSIC having different enemies in that area.

Is this opposite day or something? The dodge-offset mechanic makes Bayonetta the best in the business.

I've wanted to try Bayonetta since after it initially came out, but I only have a PS3 and refuse to accept playing it at 30 fps. Unfortunately, I have no reason to get a 360 which has left Bayonetta off the cards for me.

The fps is the sticking point. Can someone confirm if the PS3 version is still 30 fps as rumoured, and if it's 50, can they give a reliable confirmation of that?

I'm absolutely interested in trying the game ASAP if I can play it at 60 fps on PS3.
