Beards. Do you have one? Why/Why not?

Yeah,I've got a full on Riker beard.

I like it because I look better with it, my father has had all his adult life as well.

My hair is auburn (dark reddish brown) but my beard is more red... The combo looks p sweet, imo.

i have a goatee cos it makes my face look thinner and my jaw look more square. i kinda get a neckbeard everywhere else that ive never been able to get as long as my goatee cos it gets itchy or i want to impress girls and such.

i have to shave almost regularly and if i don't it turns out looking like i crawled out of hibernation/i raped someone, so given the time to grow a proper beard i would and it would look epic

I'd like one. They do seem fashionable at the moment. My girlfriend won't let me have one, though. Oh well, I don't want one that bad. Would just be cool to try it.

I have a sliver of hair on my upper lip where I'm SUPPOSED to have a Stalin mustache by now.

I'd like to grow a beard to see how I look with it, but it's not growing quite fast enough/at all.

Yup.
It's because it's too bothersome to shave every day.
It's only a short beard. Plus, I look good in it.

I only trim it off when my moustache reaches my lower lip, as that's when it no longer looks very good on me.
I call this measuring unit moustache-lip metric.

I have one of those scruffy "I'm too lazy to shave and my beard doesn't quite grow all over yet" teenage neckbeards. I also keep a soul patch, and try very hard to keep my moustache nonexistent.

Yeah, i normally grow a beard for a week or 2, by then it gets too the lenght you almost need a trimmer too take it down. Nowadays i just shave it off and let it grow back for another two weeks. I used too have a Goatee, but i found it too much work.
I also do this because i hate all those "metromen", bunch of FAGGS (as in the southpark-way)

Never have time to properly shave at 5:00 AM so I have the lazy man's beard/shave - a goatee. Considering it's about 1/2 gray to go along with the rest of my hair, I'll take it.

Yes, that is why we do. We don't want to look like little kids playing with our hoses or something. I look like I'm about 19 when I shave mine off, so I like to have one. Not everyone on my dept. does, but I think most of us do. Some of the officers have goatees since they will not be going into the fires anymore anyways.

I have a decent beard right now but thats mainly because I'm generally to lazy to shave it. Although with my beard and longer hair I occasionally get called "Caveman" or "Jesus" in school. Don't really mind it though.

I got on the subject of discussing this with friends today. In addition to deciding that beards make you more manly, we got on the subjects of why or why not we don't have facial hair.

My reason for the beard is twofold. For starters, I highly dislike shaving. My least favorite daily ritual. The other reason I have a beard is because I have a rather young looking, round face. Even though I'm 6'8, when clean-shaven, people think I'm at least two to three years younger than I am. The beard makes me look older, plus it's a slightly different color than the rest of my hair, which I rather like.

So, fellow Escapists, What are your thoughts on facial hair in general?

Yes I have ont, and it's a chinlet (chin helmet). I wear one mainly because I like it, but also because without it I look like I'm 15 years old, so I can't do anything fun without it.

im 23 and still cannot grow a full beard, it comes in all patchy. However i hate shaving, so i just let it do its thing.

No. I want one. I can't grow one. Even my stubble is pathetic at 21 years of age (partly because it's blonde and partly thanks to my father's lack of hairiness, as well).
