Armored Core: For Answer.

Anyone who's played this game will know immediately what mission has me ripping my hair out and crying like a little *****.

For those that don't, but still know the game.
The Occupation of Arteria Carpals.
Hard Mode.

For those that don't know the game.

That's the final mission in one of the game's several story arcs and, after the incessant murder of a silly number of people, five, count them, FIVE enemy Armored Cores decide to take it open themselves to beat your ass down.
Four of them are the top four pilots in the game.
The fifth is your very own Operator, disgusted at you for what you did in the last mission.

Sure, you can argue that you deserve it for taking that path, but seriously, that mission can fuck right off forever.
That mission is definitely the hardest mission I've ever played in any game. Hell, even a single enemy AC can make for a difficult fight (I'm looking at you, White Glint), but this mission is just ridiculous. Eventually I could only beat it by cheating and even then I almost ran out of ammo.

same... I probably sank a good three hours into the first level. After that, I was done.

Also, I stopped trying for 100% in Super Meat Boy somewhere in hell's darkworld. I completed the storyline, and got most of everything else. Good enough for me.

I'm proud to say that my AC has single-handedly toppled every Collared and Orca arena opponent, every Arms Fort and every 2 on 1 AC battle in that game, as well as the stupidly difficult 2 vs 2 battles, hell, I even beat Roadie on Reg 1.30 and that's when you *know* you have a competitive, ass kicking design.

But that mission? I just cannot, for the life of me do it and it's the only mission I need to S rank too.
I don't want to cheat, but I might have to at this rate.

What exactly did you do to beat it? Kojima arms and kite individual ACs around the walls? Because that's a common tactic I've seen.

No, I used the wall glitch. Just wait right outside the walls (one of the longer ones away from corners preferably), let Old King die, and just shoot 'em through the walls. You can just stand on the lower ledge right of the wall. They won't fly over and can't hit you, while you can still hit them if you hug the wall close enough. Powerful laser weapons worked very well with me. Equipping Assault Armor and unleashing it when they get close works miracles too.

This [http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/944263-armored-core-for-answer/45837780?page=1] might explain better how I did it. Might take a while but they'll go down.

This has happened to me with a bunch of games, sometimes out of just plain boredom, or deciding "As capable as I am of beating this, it's not fun."

Super Meat Boy forced me out on Chapter 5. Overlord did it to me soon after I got the red minions. Company of Heroes did it when I finally managed to finish the three tanks that had attacked me...and in come another three. It goes on, and I don't want to bore anyone.

No. I don't live in Soviet Russia.

Kidding aside, I guess it's Herzog Zwei. Couldn't keep up with the speed of the AI's micromanagement and aggressive base expansion.

It's funny, I actually got through Demon Souls without many problems (I'm actually being serious.) I only got stuck on two parts: in 1-2 just before the tower knight, when you have to fight about 4 archers and a blue eyed knight at once, and 4-2. 4-2 is my favourite level hands down in the whole game, but MY GOD is it difficult, especially considering it's the most popular hunting grounds for black phantoms in the whole game...

Anyway, more OT: I would have to say the original Crash Bandicoot. That game has a greally messed up save system, and it's also very difficult. Not one I'm going to go back to.

I never played Demon's Souls, simply because I like being able to BEAT my games. That said, I have two examples I can think of right now:

First is Psychonauts. Bought it because Yahtzee raved so much about it, but I ended up giving up at the giant fish boss.

Second is Super Meat Boy. I'm sure I'll EVENTUALLY get back to it, but until then, I have no desire to get beaten into a bloody pulp by the final boss of Hell AGAIN.
