There are times the game gives you unkillable allies to help you face your boss, and you just run around avoiding the boss while your allies do all the work.

Like the final boss for Halo 2. You can help Johnson beat that invincible hammer-wielding fucker by waiting for the boss's shields to go down and getting some shots in --

-- OR you could run across the various levels of the battle, let Johnson take down the shield and get a few headshots in, repeat until he dies.
Or you can just fly a Banshee in there.

Heard of it but never tried it; you You can deflect Phantom Ganon's energy ball by swinging your bottle instead of your sword in Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker.

I think you can do the same to Aginihm in Link to the Past but with the butterfly net.

Or in FFVI, when fighting the Atma Weapon, if you work hard to get the proper items, your whole party can both float and have reflect on for the whole battle, meaning he can only attack physically, making the fight way easier?
On the SNES version there was an even cheesier exploit - if you cast vanish on a boss, you could follow up by casting doom and they'd instantly die. It didn't work 100% of the time as any boss that was undead would just regenerate. So...yeah. You could literally kill about 95% of all bosses in the game by casting 2 spells. Atma weapon was one of them, most of the dragons in the world of ruin, and even the magimaster (still had to know life 3) on top of the fanatic's tower were all instantly killable with this exploit. I understand that they fixed the issue on all of the re-releases, though.
Of course you do know that any undead bosses could be instakilled by throwing a Phoenix-Down at them.

Yep, IIRC you could also kill at least some of them with the item that cured the 'zombie' status. Revivify, I think?

In the Borderlands General Knoxx DLC I used the invisible corner to attempt to kill that nigh invincible creature. And failed.

There are heaps of FFVI ones here, but here is my one.

Against the Magimaster at the top of the tower, I could not for the life of me figure out how to beat him and have my whole team not die to his ultima. (OK I forgot what Life 3 did ok, I know now.)

My technique was to set up my Celes, so that she will never ever take magic damage (except from unblockables like ulima) and to let the game run on turbo for about 3 hours and let the Magimaster run out of MP. I would then get him with anything (he is actualy pretty weak).

I also tried to do a funky thing where I cast Paladin to try to get him with consecutive jump attacks. That never ever worked.

Demon's Souls - Shooting Maneater through the fog gate before you walk through makes the fight a LOT easier.

Another tip is poison cloud-ing the False King, it takes a while, but it's completely doable.

I know these are pretty common, but there might be someone that's never seen them before.

Fighting the High Dragon in Dragon Age: Origins...

My other three companions had fallen (I think this character of mine was a dual wielding rogue), and I was low on health. So I went with the tried and true tactic:

I got to the corner of the map (next to a structure resembling a small Colosseum), and suddenly everyone in my party came back to life. Soon afterwards, the dragon was defeated.

There are a lot of great ways to solve puzzles in Portal and Portal 2 that either circumvent the original idea of the level or some parts of them, or that use techniques to decrease the number of portals it takes to solve the level. I personally love trying to do them.

Using a combination of the Shadow Operative (turns you invisible) and Chain Shot (marks targets like Dead Eye in Red Dead Redemption) in Alpha Protocol can end pretty much every boss fight in under a minute.

Yeah pretty much, only instead of hiding in the shadows, I'm "hiding" while running straight at them to instantly line up 6 headshots with an overpowered pistol.

Certain points along the wall for Tower Knight(Demon's Souls) gave you a perfect shot at hitting him in the face while blocking his energy strikes towards you.

The same thing with Metal Gear Rex (LBP:Metal Gear Pack)there's 1 spot for the last legs of the fight he just can't hit you at.

For puzzles I guess in Beyond:Good and Evil when trying to free Pay'j instead of having to reconfigure all the reflectors just turning the primary lens in a sweeping motion it automatically triggers the next two sets of barriers to stop.

In Ninja Gaiden 2 there was a water-dragon boss, and instead of entering the water to be mauled by Ghost-Fish and fight against the camera angles, AND THEN FINALY the actual boss itself, I always just stood on the tiny platform you were on at the start of the boss fight and blasted him to death with arrows, most of his attacks couldnt reach you and the ones that did were easyily dodged by jumping.

A few in particular from Morrowind come to mind.

Firstly, any of the factions which required you to defeat the leader in an Arena fight to advance to the final position, such as the Mages Guild and Imperial Legion, could be easily solved by Levitating (or even jumping) into the spectator area. Then you could just pelt them with arrows or throw fireballs at them until they die. Yay!

Secondly, the ability to push the Big Bad into the lava at the end, causing him to get stuck eight thousand feet below you, allowing you to...well, finish the main quest without a certain false-God bothering you.
Or if you had the Bloodmoon expansion, I remember a certain inconspicuous barrel beside a hut in the wilderness that happened to contain an arsenal of godly weapons, one of which was a bundle of arrows that did so much damage you could 1-hit kill the Heart in the final chamber and complete the main quest without having to do any of the other missions.

In KOTOR 2, the final boss sends floating lightsabers after you while she stand perfectly still. youre supposed to destroy the sabres and beat the shit out of her but i just ran in circles till they couldnt find me anymore and sneaked to the momentarily helpless boss and cut her head into shish kebab

also in the same game, i used force crush on Darth Sion. the guys supposed to be immortal but if you use force crush youll lift him up, crush him and throw him down. By the time he got up i used another force crush and the upgrades i used made sure i didnt run out of force points.

So with a bit of luck and clever thinking ( and the Dark Side) the 2 final bosses of KOTOR2 were actually the easiest.

I was playing Jedi Outcast earlier and was fighting Dessan. After kicking my ass a few times, I lead him to the upper level of the arena...where he threw his lightsaber downwards...where it got stuck on a wall coming back...leaving Dessan completely wide open and defenseless. Is it ethical for a Jedi to strike an unarmed opponent? TRICK QUESTION, Kyle doesn't consider himself a true Jedi in this game. TAKE THAT YOU BASTARD!!!

Lol, two Star Wars posts in a row.
