So this morning I woke up depressed. Wrote a thread on that (shameless plug, I know. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.84323).
Got on the bus to work and stared out the window, bored out of my mind. As I watched the cars go by, I saw something amazing.

On a 4-lane highway, 9 cars and the bus I was riding all switched lanes. All of them, at once, across four lanes. It's impossible to describe how awesome it was to see these 10 vehicles dance around each other, then, almost on cue, all stop changing lanes and continue on their merry way.

It was cold, there were gray skies, and dirty snow but still it was amazing to see. Has something like this ever happened to you, seeing an amazing sight in the worst of conditions?

Well, I went camping in November. Lake Chilliwak is not all that much to see with thick fog at 11pm, but come morning at 6am, words fail to describe its insurmountable beauty of the sky, the lake, and the snow capped surrounding mountains.

Umm. When I was about 4 or 5 my family was on a boat and I got seasick (I always do). After a while my dad talkied to me up saying that the bad weather was gone and the sea looked good when it was calm. He made me get up and look out. We were only about half way along the trip so the boat was surrounded by water and the sun was setting. It was incredibly calm and looked almost like a golden sea. Its kinda hard to describe I guess

But for a more common answer it has to be when my girlfriend smiles if that counts. When she smiles everything feels worthwhile to me

The first time I was at the summit of a mountain. The vista around just crushed me with its enormity.

I know the feeling. After hiking up Pike's Peak and finding the summit house, looking across the panorama was an experience I'd trade for nothing.

There had been freezing rain, everything was covered in ice. It was bitter cold, and the skies were gray for days, but when my dad was driving me to school, the sun went behind a tree, and since it was covered in ice, the entire thing lit up in a magnificent gold color. It was beautiful.

One vaguely relevant incident remains in my mind. I was waiting at a bus stop when I saw a young couple walking down the street followed closely by their small child (a boy about three years old). The couple were arguing, they looked tired, irritable and depressed. But the child was marching along happily, totally in love with the world and enthralled by all he saw. It was a poignant contrast.

In real life, there was an abandoned garage and workshop not far from a bike trail over here. It was old, overgrown, and dilapidated, but it was amazing what I found in there. An old classic mustang, an ancient television, a record player... I thoroughly enjoyed the place.

There was also a day when I went out into the woods in Georgia, to a particular rock in a clearing that I always went to for meditation. The sky was grey, and it was extremely foggy, but the way the grey blended with the natural greens and browns of the forest was just inexplicably beautiful. I wish I had my camera on me at the time.

Game-wise, my first few steps into Desolace on my first Level 30 WoW character made my jaw drop. Such widespread destruction, such barren landscape had a bizarre haunting beauty and awe to it. It's still my third-favorite zone, Nagrand and Arathi Highlands taking first and second.

Watching a sunset from a small boat a few miles from shore. Amazing sight right there. Sunsets in general actually, and sleeping cities (during night when no one's awake).

Oh, oh, I've got two cool pictures of somewhere around... One where the sunset looked like a huge explosion (seriously, click the thumbnail and then the picture to see the huge full size, it's awesome), and another accidental one that I took to check the picture quality on the camera, and if we needed any artificial lighting during our photoshoot. Oh, and just cause I can, I'll add the one of my balcony. I was wondering why the door wouldn't close and looked out. I guess I hadn't been there in a while. It's pretty cool what nature does with your stuff when you leave it alone.

I'm monochromatically color blind, but that didn't stop me from admiring Draper Mountain's view. It's a small mountain in SW Virginia surrounded by small farms, woods and a town in the distance. At night, the town shines like a chest full of jewels. It's pretty.
