Before you were born we were gonna call you ...

Was talking with my folks today and we got onto a discussion about what I was going to be named before I was born. I'm sure we've all had that talk that went something like "Before you were born we were gonna call you ... " So I was wondering, what were your parents gonna call you and what would you name yourself if you could go back to the moment you were born and change it?

I was gonna be a Steven or a Tom, but ended up a Kris myself and if I could go back I'd probably go with Van, since all my friends call me that anyway and I think its a pretty cool name.

Leslie 4th my grandma however said hell no it ends at 3. Leslie is a unisex name believe it or not.

My mother wanted to call me Felix! Thats a fucking cats name! That or Zack, which is a cursed name, because everyone I know named Zack is a complete wanker! Thank god my dad stepped in and called me Henry, which is quite uncommon in Australia, but who cares? I'm not called Felix and that is what matters.

My Dad wanted to call me Kris but my Mum advised against it as I'd have a life of people spelling it wrong (not very popular in the UK) and as my Dad's Jeffrey he keeps getting Geoffrey (the common UK spelling) he relented - my middle name ended up being Christopher.

My Mum wanted to call me Russell ("like a paper bag" she put it).

Thankfully some random stranger in the hospital hallway said "Simon's a good name" and I got that.

Which lends credence to my theory that time travel will one day be discovered - as I went back and prevented them giving me a silly name (no offence ).

If I was a girl my parents were going to call me Sarah Jane. I guess if I could choose my own name I'd probably go with... Actually I can't think of anything.

None taken, the full spelling is Kristofer and only one or two people have gotten it right. I still like it a lot better than the other options. Not to mention most people call me Van anyway

My Dad didn't like my name originally so for 2 months I was just, "The Baby" which to me sounds like some weird kind of superhero.
Of course my Mom won out and I got named Adam anyway.

I was gonna be called Jennifer if I was a girl though.

My mother was going to name me Prudence. I'm not kidding. She was really going to name me that. She wanted to call me Pru for short.

Thank god she settled for Megan.

I was to be named after my dad (not a true Jr, but same first name). So Michael ended up being the name I got, however when I was born the hospital was out of blue blankets, so I had a pink one. When my parents saw me through a window they were confused as they were told they had a boy, so my name became Michelle for a short period until the Nurse was able to come clear up the confusion. Thus, back to Michael.
