for starters, im sorry if this is old news.
this Friday 13th a women was beheaded in tenerife, she was killed by a local.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1386762/British-woman-beheaded-Tenerife-machete.html

now this story is bad enough, and there are some conflicting stories however there is some similarities, these are that the man suffered mental health issues, he had past instances of violence and that he was very well known in the area.

now alot of the information is still a little sketchy as the most recent story shows that the women was being pursued and sought help yet received none:

I am well aware that its impossible for officers to prevent everything, yet it seems there was a major failing here. a part of this i find particularly disgusting however is the comments circulating about it, there is a youtube link attached to the first article and the brazen remarks are disgusting (yes i am well aware its youtube and thats the norm).

However i have seen hundreds of other comments all over the place (including in newspapers) largely focusing on the "rude" behaviour of the British in the area, and i honestly cant believe this, as if that has any relevance to a sixty year old women being brutally murdered.

so i suppose for conversations sake, what do you think about this situation as a whole?

From what I gather, the victim was random. The person who committed this murder had a long history of mental problems, who should not have released into the community. He was known in the town as the man who proclaimed himself as god..

By all accounts the victim was a someone that would have helped anyone, living a good, simple life, so for people to equate that because of other tourists behaviour, she probably deserved it, or that it was somehow expected is just a sad indication of people's comments and ill thought out ramblings.

On a wider issue, it is the state that we find ourselves, when we fail to support all people in all mental and physical states.

Care in the community, or the lack of it leads to these issues.

I'm sure that the courts will again give a criminal sentence to a mentally ill person too.
Everyone loses, no one cares to understand why as long as someone is locked up.
