Just this Sunday I went to an awesome concert in Vancouver. Headliner was Korpiklaani from Finland and I fucking loved it.

Not sure if they'll be quite your style, but there's a good local band - My New Enemy - playing at the Red Room in Vancouver Saturday night. They've got tracks up on MySpace if you want to check them out. =)

The real problem is America's almost complete lack of decent metal acts. I'm not sure what's going on over there in Europe to produce such a high rate of amazing metal but I know America lacks it.

Be thankful that the USA has the following awesome bands: Suffocation, Death,Immolation,Cynic,Atheist,Morbid Angel,Slayer,Metallica,Wolves in The Throne Room,Neurosis,Isis,Mastodon, and loads more....

These days I only really enjoy Wolves in the Throne Room out that list. When I was younger I loved Slayer and Metallica though. I'm not much for those other bands you mentioned.

A shame. But i can understand that its hard to enjoy the mordid landscapes of death metal, but you should seriously check out Cynic and Atheist as they produce very unique and original music.

I'm really a folk/melodeth man, but I appreciate a little from all offerings. Provided there's a melody. But then, Wolves is pretty brutal.
