Y'know, I'm not sure if I've actually seen any sci fi showing how our culture could change.

Well there is one exception: Demolition Man

Yep, that's the only example I can think of.

EDIT: Just thought the Imperium of Man in 40k might count as well.

This "cultural scifi" sounds interesting, any reccomendations?

Read Brave New World by Huxley. It's short, and contrasting current culture and moral values with a moderately futuristic society is pretty much the whole book.

OT: Yeah, I used to be pissed about a lot of things, used to be a "purist" but I think I've mostly outgrown it. I'm much more mellow about a lot of things now. (and yes, I do smell that delicious irony)

I'm usually pretty open to all kinds of stuff, but Slenderman (of all things) is something I think is going into a weird direction. I'm what's known as a Surgist (dunno if this is a widely used term but it was on the wiki). When I first started discovering it for myself I thought it was a neat idea, but as I looked more into it I found out about The Operator, Runners, Slender Walking etc. There is a list of his abilities on the Slender Man wiki that attempts to categorize, explain, and give examples of everything he can do. Once you attach so many rules it becomes a scary unknown.

To me, all you need for Slender Man is: missing children, foggy woods, a set of blurry photos, and a library fire.
