This thread is silly! Well, not yet it is (it would be, if we were living in a alternative universe, where everything is silly by default), but we could make it one. You, on the other hand, I consider silly, and that is a compliment. I enjoy a good jest and appreciate people, who can laugh even when shit hits the fan. When you reach a certain age, however, things usually become bloody serious. If you continue to be silly, you are looked upon as retard and people start shunning you in fear of catching the stupid (slightly exaggerating). Especially around upper secondary school rationality really kicks in and people start valuing intelligence more then imagination and laughter (personal observation).
When I was in Finnish equivalent of high school, we had a close-knit group of friends, who were always jesting and making fun of everything. There were those who laughed with us, and those poor buggers who thought, all that fooling around was childish. Now, funny thing is, most of the students laughing with us, were one of the brightest in our school. So it´s not just the intelligence that makes us serious. What is? Growing old? Is it really considered inappropriate to joke around and laugh at things when you are grown-up, facing the hardships of life?
I say "Noooooooooooooo!"...sorry, I´ll stop that. I don´t think it´s cool or appropriate to make fun of other people´s misfortune, but I can laugh at myself and the bizarreness of our wacky little world. I love the absurd humour of Monty Python and the Marx Brothers, and I try to bring some of it to everyday life (which is probably the main reason some people feel awkward when in my company). Why not being silly, if only to prevent myself from putting a gun between my teeth? How do you see silliness? Do you consider yourself silly?
Lets unwind for a sec and be silly, silly, silly...
