Fanboy= Small knowledge + big mouth.

Generally someone who hasn't played a lot of games but has determined that there is a definitive best game/publisher and harps on about this game/publisher and how other games/publishers are inferior. The fanboy will often cite sales figures as proof of said game's/publisher's superiority.

ok a - General mostly electrified steel you have been posting on this forum the past THREE hours. nothing better to do with your "super intelligent mind"?
EDIT: just saw the last post. for gods sake put down the dictionary

and id class a fanboy as someone who is completely fanatically arrogant about a game.
example: Halo 3 (best one) now i liked the other games but this one had so many flaws in my opinion. and every time i express these to a "fanboy" they take a hissy fit and say "you fucking nub get a brain". cause games i like i will still say yea theres flaws but what doesnt have any?

summed up its okay to like a game but saying every other game is irrelevant and crap makes you a fanboy

Three hours ALREADY? Oh my.

However, allow me to contribute to this thread by pointing out that most of you here are bandwaggon-ing and taking a harsh stance against the fanboy, while being incredibly oblivious to your own fanboyish behaviours.

I'm not going to drill anyone on psychology 101 here, but watch yourselves.

This whole thread was about people being wrongly accused of being fanboys, becasue of what they like. Personally on a note General i am yet to see anyone in this thread who has acted like a proper fanboy. You however are showing signs of being a complete and utter smeg head(See Red Dwarf +} )

Goodness, this board makes me feel bad about bashing ff7...
(I've a strong baised agianst the game in general)
Anyhow, it bugs me that people who have no knowledge of the things I'm into (IE: games, weird shows and movies, nerdy 80's things, etc) lables me a fangirl on the spot if I even utter a few allusions to these sorts of things.
I must say that it was pretty humorous when someone peg'd me as a fangirl for saying that I liked Benazir Bhutto and thought she was a rolemodel for young women everywhere...
It was a stupid teenage girl who probably couldn't keep her pants on for her life, however, so I did not feel very insulted.

O.P.:
Your definition of "fanboy" is a bit different from what I'm used to, but I'll respond on the basis of your definition instead of mine.

We all begin as fanboys, and even for us decrepit old folks it can still be fun to geek out and ejaculate all over the latest piece of whatever we think is awesome. It's that feeling you get - that worshipful, fanboyish response to something new. That delicious feeling that says this is gonna be the BEST THING EVAR!!! Everyone should have the chance to enjoy that feeling from time to time. Sticking your fingers proudly in your ears and humming really loud to drown out the naysayers is just part of the fun.

But on the other hand, it's good to know your history as well. If people just want to rain on your parade for the sake of ruining your fun, by all means ignore them. But sometimes the crusty old bastards (or bitches, in a few rare cases) have something useful to tell you. Once you learn to tell the difference, this stuff will bother you a lot less.

You are claiming that posters here are showing fanboy traits. You have been asked to back up your claims with evidence. You are not an omnipotent, all-knowing consciousness. Either show some evidence to back up your claim (or as you like to call it, an observation) or in the words of Malcom Tucker 'f**k the f**k off'.
I have claimed nothing. I could very well comment that the soft wash of pre-dawn blue on the huddled city springing from the horizon is pretty. In such an instance, I wouldn't feel particularly pressured to actually back up my subjective view of the situation; I also highly doubt that any of you would be in any way inclined to challenge me to assert my aesthetics as being "right", either.

In this instance however, because I have posted a deliberately hurtful comment, you all decide to take it as a deep and profound insult--and worse, still take it seriously. So seriously, indeed, that you are feeling the need to challenge me to support, with evidence, a passing comment specifically tailored to evoke self-reflection (and a little bit of vitriol to satisfy my inner Iago).

Bam, dealt with.

I accept that you are new here and perhaps trying to get a big name. But you will only be labelled as the next arrogant twat who strolls along on forums thinking he know it all. Right now I know I sound like an arrogant twat but I’m fighting like with like. Also, there is no reason to get all maniacal on anyone’s ass for making an opinion. If there is a problem come back with a REASON why and not say. “I need not back my claims up” You did make claims!
I am new here, but I do know everything. "Area over depth" is my motto.

I must also point out that this is all quite deliberate. I don't know how well-versed you are in WoW's community lore, but there's a little figure known as Mallicus. He is truly a father to me, and I only aspire for people to view me with equal contempt and respect as they do that God amongst Night Elves.

But to address the rest of your post...

I myself need not demonstrate your shameful idiocy. The simple act of responding to my posts is an exercise in both futility and myopic rage. Sorry, bud, but you forgot your DEX modifier somewhere along the line.

Actually, wait, that was the rest of your post!

Sorry for building up the suspense. Season 3 is cancelled, folks. Au revoir from the director squad, the hamster wheel is taking charge!

how do you think i feel having a 360 and everyone thinking i'm a halo fan because of it. i've never even owned a "halo" game. i've played tournament with some friends before on 2 but that's about it.
when this happens it just makes me want to check it out to see what all the hype is about. i do plan on playing at least the first one.
but here's the kicker. i don't know where most of you guys are at in the world, but i'm in america. i went to go check out a copy of the first to buy it, noticing that it was less the ten bucks a few months ago... it's twenty fucking dollars now for a used copy... and thirty for number two. no way i'm paying that. i also wanted to get another copy of "jedi knight jedi accademy" again, but that ***** was twenty now too. fucking corporations, hustlers... every single one of them.
i'm going to school for it right now though... so... i'll be a corporate whore one day too. yea!
