For this thread, I am not interested in the best FPS, the best strategy game, etc.
I want to know what you think is the best game for:
Grass detail
Fur texture
Forest density

You know, the little details in a game, that make that game even better.

For example:
Metroid Prime 3: game that has the most comfortable control scheme
Fire Emblem - Rekka no Ken: game that has the most comfortable difficulty curve
Pokemon: only franchise to be able to improve slightly on what the last game did, and still have features new and exciting

So fellow Escapists, what are some of the "Best of ____" games you have played?

Just Cause 2 Has Excellent trees.
Company of Heroes has the best battlefield scaring (shell craters etc.)
Gears of War 2 has the widest range of browns I've ever seen in a colour palette

Zeno Clash's background scenes. That is aesthetic design TO THE MAX.

The game is horribly underrated. Go play it if you haven't already.

Far Cry 2 has great looking fire.

Hydrophobia has great water.

Modern Warfare 2 and Black ops have extremely detailed hands.

Nier has some of the craziest bloom effects I've ever seen. Exiting a tunnel is like watching a nuke go off.

Minecraft: Best use of "Fuck you, physics" liquid physics.

I SPENT HOURS ON THAT BIT! AND COULDN'T PULL IT OFF!

I'm tempted to re-install the game and play all the way up to that, just for the satisfaction of seeing that bastard building crumble to the ground.

OT: WH40K: Dawn of War has the best building construction animations ever. As in, each race has a completely different style of building, and the building is constantly changing throughout the entire process. It's touches like that that make me love the game so damn much, and where so many other RTS's fall face down in the dirt.

Certainly the most fun game in my collection right now. Need more people online, though.

As for some others... hmm...

Oblivion: Best randomly-rendered grass

Morrowind: Best giant mushrooms... I guess

Red Dead Redemption: Best spoken-word recital of a name (HERBERT MOOOOOON!)

Battlefield 3 Alpha, was so amazing in every way. Best controls for an FPS I have ever used (Vaulting and Climbing was brilliant), every little detail in each texture was astounding (and this is Alpha), the way each bullet chips away a tiny piece of wall when it hits, and the way explotions blow the fuck out of everything, all in the best sounding game ever made, that makes you actually scared sometimes and feel like you are in a propper battle (The Echo's inside the Metro' station was the best part).

A lot of games did that a long time before Oblivion.
Lol, I read so many books in Oblivion.
I especially liked the contrast between the "Biography" and "Real life" or Bernezia (sp?), it was a really accurate portrayal of what real history does.

Oblivion: the most attentive guards ever
GTA (any): the most omnipresent law force
Metroid: game with the fewest games that are canon, despite the fact that Samus' story is apparently linear
CoD - MW2: most accurate gun sounds
