This thread is simply to discuss the best alphabet there has been. It can be any kind, from hieroglyphics, Hebrew, Cyrillic, or even Dovah!

I'm gonna go with Greek, only because Ω is the best symbol in existance.

I didn't know people could have preferences, but Cyrillic I guess. Cherokee's pretty cool too.

My favorite alphabet is Alphabet Soup.

It sometimes forms words when you least expect it and BAM delicious.
I love alphabet soup! Can I change my answer? Although, a Cyrillic alphabet soup does sound kickass XD

I also have this funny clip, which is just barely relevant

EDIT:

Hell Yeah!

Thai, because you probably pass it off as "Alienese" to most Westerners without them noticing.

I've always liked Katakana because it looks lovely and, with a few exceptions, the symbol for 'ka' will always and forever be pronounced 'ka'.

EDIT - Removed Hiragana from the equation since I just realised Katakana looks all angular like it was carved by a dragon and instantly became my favourite alphabet.

Cyrillic is the prettiest in my opinion. For a comprehensive orthorgraphy, IPA definitely wins. But as for the best alphabet, it's got to be Greek - the letters sound so incredibly cool.

Yeah, Cyrillic has my vote too.

It's like the future-cyberpunk-alien version of english!

I wanna learn to speak Russian for some reason now.

It's certainly the most beautiful.

size matters indeed, making the IPA (international Phonetic Alphabet) the clear winner.

...don't you know your alphabet Double D?

(Always remembered that one, better than the traditional alphabet)

Really?

About half of it seems really mundane - an E with two dots on top, one looks like a 3 and another looks like a backwards R, then two are like a backwards N, one of which has like a tick above. Most of the rest do look like proper letters, not hugely different to how the Romanic ones are constructed. I guess, aside from Дд Фф Шш Щщ Ыы Ээ which could be considered more exotic. Even then, they are still influenced by the same things that influenced Romanic alphabets.

OT: I dunno. Looking through the thread for inspiration, I think I like Arabc alphabet the most or Phoenician.

If I take alphabet to mean any writing system, then it's almost impossible to decide. Armenian is like Cyrillic's art deco sister, and Mongolian is like Arabic, but written vertically, and how cool is that? Hangeul is cool just because of how it works.

I think my favorite overall are katakana though. I sometimes wish all Japanese were written in katakana, but then I remember how retardedly hard it'd be to actually read all-katakana sentences. カンジハフクザツナコトダケド、カタカナデダケカイタブンショウハマギラワシスギマスネ。
