The Halo 3 battle with Guilty Spark is not a boss battle. More like an interactive cutscene. It was supposed to be easy so you could take out the stress he gave you before in Halo 1. I mean that Library level was a *****.

He wasn't supposed to be that difficult to fight.

I can tell you a better boss battle in Halo 3 has to be when you fight the two scarabs at once. On Legendary, those guys were truly hardcore.

Best boss fight: I can't decide on this one.

Worst: Fable 2. As much as I like Fable 2, the final boss was...lamer than 343 Guilty Spark you guys mentioned. I thought I was going to fight say another Jack of Blades and here all I did was suck out his energy and then shoot him.

Best: Typhon in Titan Quest. the PERFECT blend of Difficulty, Epicness and Atmosphere/awesome surroundings and music.

Worst: probably the first tyranid warrior in DOW2. now you technically dont fight him, he killed Davian Thule and thats enough to make him the worst :,(

I was a big fan of Ganondorf in Wind Waker.

I'm not a big fan of the end boss in Dead Rising. I mean, I wouldn't have been able to complete without glitching.

Worst = Igniz (the empitomy of KOF boss syndrome).
The worst KoF boss I've encountered so far is Rugal in KoF:R2 for the NGPC, but I guess they're all pretty rough.

Best Boss:

I bet no one's going to mention a boss from an RTS. The Mother F***ing Generals Challenge from Command and Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour. There wasn't even a best boss in that campaign. Probably a tie between General Townes, who opens the battle by firing an orbital laser cannon at the ground in front of your base, tells you he's drawn a line in the sand, and then dares you to cross it, and the actual final boss "The Dragon" who had units from all three factions working in concert including all three superweapons.

Worst Boss: Xemnas from Kingdom Hearts 2. Such a freaking letdown.

Best Boss: The boss from the REAL ending for No More Heroes....lightsabers locking, sparks flying everywhere, ohh it was fun...

Worst Boss: Emperor Ing from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes....it was hard enough just to beat the bugger...then after u do that, just like every almost every other Metroid game, you have to run your ass out of their before the whole place explodes...(at least i think it did, having played it in a while)

This made me laugh.

Most RPG style games tend to have, in my opinion, fantastic bosses, let alone final bosses.

For example, in the Pokemon series, the Elite Four are always a joy to beat, at least for the first time, while the fact that there's usually an extra, super-difficult Trainer somewhere in the game makes those battles even better.

Another good one would be Dragon Quest: Journey of the Cursed King because I found the battle against the final boss to be incredibly interesting, particularly because of the first stage in the fight, while the extra boss available afterwards was even better, if only because it lead to more of Eight's past.

However, my favourite boss battle has to be the one against Xemnas in Kingdom Hearts II. Everything about that fight is great, with each stage in the fight adding something extra. Fantastic.

As for worst fights, I find that one-on-one fighters, as much as I love them, tend to feature boring, awful or just plain cheap final boss fights. Tekken 5 springs to mind, as does Soul Calibur III and IV.

I love Castlevania titles, the in game bosses are mint, although dracula is always a let down.

I liked the last boss on The Darkness. It was murder to reach him but it was nice to be the predator with him cowering on his own.

I hate Seth on Street fighter 4. No one should be able to teleport and throw.

All of the King of Fighter bosses do far too much damage and take far less. I dont understand which guy on the design team says at the start of each project: "Do you know which charecter I think was under powered last year? Who desperately needs some new moves? Rugal..."

CoD 4 was good. Great finish, real last ditch effort. I felt emotionally drained when that finished.

Best for me would probably have to be Mass Effect's when you opt to not pursway Saren to kill himself and the end of the mission "Game Over" in Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare. (ok, not really a boss fight, but I'm putting it here anyway because it's so epic.)

Worst has to be Halo 3's (a floating lamp and a collapsing bridge.) and Fable 2 (one shot will do it. Hell, it doesn't even have to be you.)

HarHarHar. See what you did there, trying to confuse those who havent played Fable 2.

For others out there, hes the worst boss IMO, Why? Becuase hes just a rich guy, trying to get power via magic. But you stop him too early and guess what? hes as weak as a civilian. Weaker, actually. Just one swing of your blade and he will be falling down down down, bleeding in the FAYCE. A last boss you can one shot. Oh joy...Fucking lucien >.<

I didnt actually think the god of war in Spartan: Total warrior was all that hard...I just pulled out achilles spear and prodded him in the face from 7 foot away until his eye plopped out.

My favourite bosses were those in RE4 and RE5. Especially the Uroboros tentacle dude, who me and my co-op partner dubbed "Emperor Zurg"

Oh yeah, and at the end of AC I like it how if you do the normal thing and counter, he falls to the ground, then teleports and you LOOOOZE all your health. But, if you just use normal attacks, all is well. Nice little touch (although I hated that last hour or so as a whole)
Yeah, about that... Hidden blade counter > every boss in AC ever.

OT: I am playing through I Wanna Be The Guy Lately, only fought Bison and MechaBirdo so far. Bison was pretty fun when you finally find the easy way to kill him. Stuck in Birdo at the moment. Keep getting unlucky with the warheads.
Yeah, but if do that your screen starts flashing and you lose all your health and BLEH.

Or, you can save up all your throwing knives like a cheap-ass.
Hm, im surprised everyone else hasnt figured out the hidden blade counter. I got through the WHOLE game with just the hidden blade and a very fast counter.

Psychomantis from MGS1 was genius, how long did it take you to figure out to switch controller port???
This for the best one, because you certainly won't find a more creative boss fight anywhere else.

I don't really get why so many people are posting the ending of Fable 2 as the worst boss fight as I wouldn't even class it as one. I mean, there's a zero chance of you dying and a 100% chance of him dying, even if you dont do anything! How is this a fight? I agree that the player should have been given the chance to actually fight him for real, but what was in the game doesn't really fall into the "boss fight" category.

Best: Dr. Nefarious, Ratchet & Clank Up your arsenal (or 3 depending on the contry), and the Butcher from Psychonauts.

Worst: Every Halo games Final Boss, and all the bosses in The Elder Scrolls IV.

Worst boss for me was (I know I'm gonna get hate for this) Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time. He's made up to be the ultimate form of pure evil and hatred, yet I killed him in about 5 minutes without dying once. That shit sucks.

But my favorite would be Liquid Ocelot from MGS4. Words cannot justify how great that entire game is. It was just the perfect battle. It was hard as fuck for me on the first try and it was just epic. The final battle between two arch enemies at sunrise.

Revan/Malak from KOTOR (I always forget who was who.. I think it's Malak). Was easy as hell once you took out all the cryo-frozen Jedi.
All of you.....I dare you too do it as purest lightside with no draining powers like I did the first (And only) time I fought him. I dare you!
Heal was my best friend at that fight
Stim, stim, med pack, flurry, stim............
