FF IX's answer to FF VII's One Winged Angel

The original Shadow Hearts soundtrack by Yoshitaka Hirota and Yasunori Mitsuda is considered to be a cult classic. And they still managed to surpass themselves with the sequel.

Aaaand some Shoji Meguro to wrap it all up.

It's all final boss music, but I think this is a perfect time to shamelessly plug this old thing [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.270713-Top-Ten-Songs-Special-Final-Boss-Themes]. Featuring your favorite holiday classics, including Mario 64 and FF7.

There's a reason the 16-bit era was known as the Golden Age, especially for JRPG soundtracks:
Those boss battle themes are awesome, but the end boss/major boss battle themes are MIND-BLOWING. Do NOT just skim my list and go "uh-huh, interesting" without listening to them.

The piano that plays before you battle cynitha in pokemon D/P. Technically not her boss theme, but its still exclusive to her (i think)

Most other Final Fantasy themes have been posted already, so I'll just leave these here.

I know there's been a lot of sonic posted already, but nothing matches the sheer creepiness of Sonic CD's boss theme.

In case no one has posted it yet,

And of course the fun remix version...with lyrics! :p

Edit:
I got one that I doubt anyone else has thought of!
Got a gameplay video because you really need the game to contextualize the music once it picks up into the "OH SHIT YOU BETTER DO SOMETHING!" music.

I'm a hardcore guy when it comes to boss themes, I like em brutal and badass, but orchestrated pieces aren't bad either.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Dark Samus Boss Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFOqGV-6bck

Devil May Cry 3: Cerberus Boss theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLqXkpVGBrc

(this next one wasn't a boss per say, but its a good theme nonetheless)

Amnesia: The Dark Descent Kaernk Theme http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3CxPcfd2FQ

My first choice is Megaman 4 boss theme. I'm at the office, so I don't have access to youtube to link it, sorry, chaps.

My second choice would be every single track from the game Gun-Dec, or how it was called in the States V.I.C.E.: Project DOOM... I know, I know, that name is ridiculous, even though the japanese didn't make much sense from what I could gather, but I digress.

My third choice would be Rocket Knight Adventures Boss theme.

Such good tunes there.

Shin Megami Tensei I: Bringing in the old school apocalyptic vibe:

And Nocturne brings it to the next level:

The DS version of the Dragon Quest IV Boss Theme kicks ass:

Dragon Quest VIII's Final Boss Theme, in Orchestra:

And something completely different...:

After Brayko from Alpha Protocol, there is only one song which qualifies as true boss music:

Turn up the Radio

First you laugh, how cheesy this shit is. Then you get your ass, your teeth and nose kicked in and are no longer laughing. It's like slipping on a banana peel on the top of long stairs. First it's just hell as painful, but much later you realize, that it was kinda funny.

Most of the ones I'd have said have been mentioned so I'll go with these.
