American cover art for Dragon Quest 8:

The cover explains yet doesn't give away the story. It's colorful, shows a variety of characters you'll be following along the way, and seems to be more compact with a nice border than the original Japanese cover art.

Also, I feel sorry for North Americans who seem to get shafted with shitty, garish and clumsy cover art on your game releases more than we do. *e-hug*

It's unfortunate you can't share the awesomeness with as many games. NA box art always seems to be mandated to be painfully obvious. Or garish (Heavy Rain, for example). Maybe the market is a bit more attention deficit to read blurbs or info and instead must be told "THIS GAME HAS BOOBIES" (again, Heavy Rain) on the front cover. I dunno the real reason, it's just a hypothesis.

my vote goes to heavy rain Japanese box art.

I personally like the second one slightly better since it has the teammates in the background and the Molotov cocktail.
