I believe the Burnout 3 was the best in the series. Paradise was not bad I am just not a person who likes free roaming in racing games. I also found Revenge to be almost as fun.

I have Burnout Dominator on PSP which I really enjoyed, but I'm looking to get a Burnout game for my PS3... What would people on here recommend? Or should I go for Blur instead? I'd like one that has online gameplay... Also whats the difference between Blur and Burnout?
The only burnout game that has come out on the PS3 is Paradise so I guess that is the only game that I can recommend to you. I a have not played Blur so I can not recommend it, yet.

I enjoyed Burnout 3: Takedown more than Burnout 4: Revenge, and all of the other people I've heard talk about it prefered 3.

Including Charlie Brooker.
I can never decide if I like 3 or Revenge better. I?m like OP, I?m not a huge fan of driving games but I bought Burnout 3 & Revenge and they are two of my favorites from last gen (only outdone perhaps by Katamari and San Andreas). Burnout 3 is actually one of the main reasons I got a ps2.
Put on the spot I would probably say Revenge is better just because of the crash junctions reaching another level of sick.

The franchise went downhill from there. They don?t even have crash junctions at all anymore. IMO they could just make a whole game of that.

Burnout 3 is definitely my favourite. I never played 1 or 2 so I can't comment on them.

Burnout Revenge I enjoyed, but I don't like traffic check. I prefer dodging cars and having that challenge.

Burnout Paradise I absolutely hated. It felt like it was trying to be GTA and failed. As much as I don't usually try to encourage linearity, Burnout needs set tracks.

Burnout Legends on PSP - Damn fun. Had the same gameplay and feel as Burnout 3. I loved every bit of it.

Burnout Dominator on PSP - Again seemed fun. Didn't get into it much though.

I really hope the next Burnout is nothing like Paradise.
I agree with this, but I felt like Paradise was trying to be Midnight Club instead of GTA, and I didn't play the ones on PSP.

With Burnout Revenge it was close to impossible to use slower cars late in the game without getting smoked,
and it lacked a single race option.

Burnout Paradise the open world thing they did felt empty and rather boring,
it also has the car problem and lacks a single race option.

I can work around the single race thing but car thing no, just... no.

But Senor Spongie why not just use faster cars?

Cause the other car look cooler, seriously it does.

Burnout Revenge was my favorite, but Paradise is good, and Burnout 3 is also really good.

For similar games, Split/Second is short but very fun and Blur is good as well.

I've only played Revenge and Paradise, and Revenge was much better. Paradise tried too hard to be a mix of crash-racer and sim-racer, which Burnout is not. Revenge was awesome for crashing and high speed races. Blur is a good alternative for fans of crash-racers.
