I'd have to say something like Medieval 2: Total War. The problem is that all "choose your path" games have many paths, but they always lead to the same story check points. I find it jarring that, regardless of whether I choose to be good or bad, the character is ultimately forced to go down the same quest route for story progression. At least with a strategy games like Total War or Tropico 3, I can ultimately ignore the winning critera and persue my own, self-set targets. Sure, I might fail the game's appointed objectives, but at least these games let you carry on playing regardless.
