I saw Shellac a couple of times back in 2005 (I think twice in the same week, actually) and they were fantastic on both occasions. Do they still do those Q&A sessions between songs? How did they leave the stage?

This years Prog Nation was pretty awesome. I got to see Dream Theater with Zappa Plays Zappa (Lucky Europe got Opeth as well). Both of the shows were fantastic. I was there with my family for my sisters birthday (and her first concert). We had second row seats and managed to get a set list from the bassist of ZPZ and a guitar pick from John Petrucci. It was the best Dream Theater show out of all the ones I saw.

This was Dream Theater's set list:

A Nightmare to Remember (Awesome!)
Beyond This Life (Awesome!)
Hollow Years (Even more Awesome!)
A Rite of Passage (Also Awesome!)
The Dance of Eternity (Awesome as well!)
One Last Time (Pretty good)
Forsaken (Eh... the only flaw in the list IMO)
Sacrificed Sons (Pretty good)
Encore: The Count of Tuscany (Awesome!)

Overall, it was an awesome.

I almost went to go see that concert, but I didn't want to go alone, and my friend who introduced me to Metalocalypse couldn't go. :(

Probably would have been the best concert ever though.

OT, my favorite concert I've actually been to was TSO. They have been doing concerts in my area regularly for the last couple years.

MUSE. Muse are brilliant!! I skipped school to go see them in France in 2007 :D LOVED IT >8D
I saw them in Birmingham last week.

They are the best band to see live, I kid you not

Seriously, they win awards for this shizz
I saw them in Birmingham too! On the tuesday. It was honestly the best night of my life, it was so freaking amazing
Woot!

Seriously, it was awesome. But what the hell was up with the supporting act? Christ, they sucked! And their love of Strobe burnt my eyes to a cinder.

It really hurt

I was near the back, sitting, sadly. Got awesome lasers up there, though. Where were you?
Yeah the Big Pink sucked, they were boring, and instantly forgettable, apart from the one annoyingly catchy song: "these girls fall like dominos, dominos"... *shudder*

And that strobe light would have burnt out my eyes if I hadn't been behind an incredibly tall guy which I hid behind.

I was standing, about 10 people away from the front. That is, until my friend fainted and I had to carry her out. But i don't blame her, it was incredibly hot down there, but still amazing. The lasers in New Born were wicked, but my favourite parts were the falling towers at the beginning, or the drum and bass duo

Rancid supported by UK subs earlier this year. Got proper pissed up & went mental in the pit. Subs alone were an awesome set!

Edit: The above closely followed by a small gig at my local. Near the knuckle (uk ska) Cassio Avenue (kind of expeimental punk i think but still good) Mediatrocity (dirty ska core) & Wartgore Hellsnicker (erm... best way to describe them is that they are an experience)

I saw Green Day over the summer
It was mind blowing, they played for three hours straight and we were on our feet literally the whole entire time
Those guys are great live

NIN was my first mainstream concert, so it definitely made an impression on me. I spent too many hours in random basements and bars stalking the underground scene in high school, so anything in an actual building would have made some sort of impression on me.

VNV Nation, with Ayria, was an awesome concert. It's always a good concert when you're encouraged/forced to dance.

Last September (2008) I went to see the Berlin Philharmoniker and Sir Simon Rattle at the BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall, London. They did the prelude and Liebstod from Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, and the Turangalila Symphonie by Messiaen.

It was the most incredible experience of my life. They are an outstanding orchestra and he is a God among conductors. The audience was so moved that there was a small round of applause after the 5th movement and what seemed like a lifetime's worth of silence before the applause at the end (something of a rarety)!

I was sitting in the choir stalls where I could see Sir Simon and throughout the symphony (well over an hour) I was utterly transfixed. He defined the term Maestro for me.

For me it had to be some Irish quartet a few years ago.
Why? I was stoned out of my mind, the music was happy and had many sing-along moments and the tickets came with free servings of Irish stew (which was served just as I began to get the munchies).

Protest the Hero and As I Lay Dying. Crazy awesome show. I was so tired after the Protest set I just stood in the back and watched As I Lay Dying. Came back with 94 hours as their encore which was the epitome of awesomeness.
As I lay Dying is awesome.

OT: Probably the 10 for 10 tour, 10 hardcore bands for 10$, why not?
Death Before Dishonor and War of Ages were fucking awesome!
