Best Console to compliment a PC Gamer?

Right now my main alternative to PC is the Xbox 360. I used to game primarily on it so I have a large library of games built up on it that I like to play and some new ones still work alright on it.

If I do get one of the newer consoles then it will probably be the PS4. There is no chance in hell im getting the Xbone, Microsoft has completely destroyed all of my interest in it and I can't justify getting a Wii U as im not sure what games I would be interested in.

Another possibility I considered was getting a Nintendo 3DS so that I can play some of the games on that which sound pretty cool, things like Fire Emblem or Bravely Default.

Wii U. There are way too much overlap between the other two and Windows that you'll just gravitate toward your default machine and leave the other one gathering dust; whereas in Ninty's case you will be guaranteed games that won't be released on Windows and thus justify the cost vs utility.

The Wii U however not only has the most exclusives of any modern Console at the moment, it's also got backwards compatibility and the virtual store that significantly increases it's library. It's custom CPU significantly hampers the ease of cross-platform design for Wii U titles to some degree (which may explain in part it's rocky start).

Yeah, but you have to buy a lot of extra bullshit for that backwards compatability to even work. It seems the only people to benefit from the Wii-U's backwards compatabilty are those that already owned a Wii prior.

Even some games on the virtual store apparently require you to purchase an extra controller to even play.

This along with the pathetically small hardrive is what's keeping me from investing in the system.

Very true but considering the age of the Wii any gamestop or gamestop like store has a lot of that stuff on the cheap. Same with some Wii games. A few rarely drop bellow $20 even when used.

Its to be expected how even after I posted a list the Sony/Microsoft are still being portrayed as having less than 5 exclusive games. Seems due to the third party multiplats people get a little blinded as they seem to have no problem when it comes to the Wii U who doesn't have them.

Don't think that'll quite ever stop, maybe in a dozen years.

Get the one that has the most exclusive that you are sure that you want to play. If that's the WiiU - there's your answer. Personally, I plan to get an Xbox 360 one of these days to play some games it still holds hostage.

Xbone and PS4 are essentially just extremely weak computers.

There's a couple of exclusives, but not really a library big enough to warrant spending money on playing at 30FPS.

So, the WiiU is surprisingly the best option really.

Wii U, no question. I only own a PS3 because I've owned it for a very long time and don't want to sell it. But between the newest ones, Wii U hands down. You can't get games like Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros or Kirby on the other consoles or on PC. Which is my top priority. Games that I can't get on PC. Combine that with the price...

On a games level you would enjoy the biggest selection of games unavailable on PC with a Wii U. However, Sony usually has some decent exclusives and you wouldn't have to contend with a console that has complete distain for hand-friendly controlers.

I would say PS4.

I'm a PC gamer, and that's the only system that interests me. I just picked one up for my self-given Christmas present, and I'm happy with it thus far. The tablet interface takes some adjustment.

Depends on what he qualifies as an accessory for the Wii U:

Deluxe Bundle containing Super Mario 3D world: $300
Remote+ and nunchuk, refurbished: $25
Classic Controller: $10
Pro Controller: $50

Total: $385

And that is it for Nintendo produced general accessories for the Wii U. Now, we also can get the Mario Kart Wheel, the Wii Fit board, the Smash Bros gamecube controller adapter (if it wasn't completely sold out) and the Amiibos. But those are all game specific accessories, not Wii U accessories. You will only ever need the Wii Fit Board if you buy Wii Fit, so I would count that more as a $80 game, not an $80 dollar accessory.

See, here's one of the biggest wedges preventing me from buying a Wii-U; The Wind Waker HD bundle.

I freaking love that game, and my current copy is hanging by a thread, not to mention my Gamecube is starting to show some graphical fits. So yeah, I would basically buy a Wii-U simply because I love Wind Waker so much. The problem is that that particular Wii-U bundle doesn't come with a physical copy of the game, but with a voucher. And for some odd reason this is the only bundle not to have the physical copy of the bundled game.

And then together with this accessory necessity hoopla compounding onto itself, I'm just like 'Ah forget it.'

I bought the WWHD bundle. I was happy I did it. Right now, on my Wii U, downloaded, are WWHD, Pikmin 3, Wii Sports Club, Shovel Knight, some apps, and Smash Bros U (which is a big download). There's still a lot of room left.

If you like the game so much, why not just have it on the console all the time? You'll be able to quickly show off to your friends how great the HD version looks without fumbling for its case.

Your backwards compatibility argument doesn't really hold either. The Wii U comes with a motion sensor bar and such, the only thing you'd need if you didn't already have a Wii would be a Wiimote+nunchuck. And the gamepad is far superior to the pro controller for most games, I'd say. Definitely for WWHD, and definitely for Pikmin. The only reason you'd buy a pro controller is for multiplayer use, i.e., no different than any other console.

You should get a Wii U. You'll be glad you did. There's no subscriptions for online play, just what the price tag says. And just imagine not having to pause Wind Waker to use the toilet, because you can take the game with you.

I'm not into that, since I don't have gaming friends, and games like Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2 don't interest me either. So that leaves very little in the form of single-player experiences.

I mean, I love (and I do mean fucking LOVE) Wind Waker, but 300+ bucks is a bit too steep even for that game.

I disagree. The single-player experience for Nintendo exclusives is fantastic. If you aren't interested in those games, that's that, but I know how much fun I've been having, single-player, on the wii U. I think you're making excuses to justify not owning it. But you know what? Maybe I don't get to talk. After all, I just bought a piece of art for $400. And it doesn't even play games.

And I like WW as my number 1 game, so I was in fact willing to pay that price tag just for the one game, in the hopes that other good games would happen once I owned the console. Sure enough, that turned out to be true.

I'd say Nintendo's stuff is a good pick up. Most of those won't make it to the PC like Xbox and Sony titles.

PS2 is a good pickup too if you can get it cheap along with some choice games. Older systems can be.....acquired, but never figured out how to acquire a PS2 other than the actual console.
