I got a few choices...
Minor spoiler warning...
Gannondorf at the end of WW. Need I explain?
Kessler from InFamous. With his dying breath, he reveals everything.
The younger Akuji in Saints Row 2. Texas Burial, after getting his ass handed to him.
Y'know what? Every boss from Saints Row 2.
Dutch Van der Lyne. Powerful death there...
The Psychopaths from Dead Rising 2. I've killed 5 at the moment (Ted, Leon (?), Brandon, Antione and Randy) and each death was awesome.

Holy Shit when Carlos died I had to take a fucking break from the game. It was so sad, I loved the blood soaked revenge streak your character goes on afterwards, though.

Also Bill from Left 4 Dead, the Sacrifice comic only makes it even sadder. Poor old crazy bastard

Mine has to be from Legacy of Kain: Defiance.

Raziel.

Since he was the Spectral form of the Soul Reaver, and you needed both Spectral and Physical forms of the Soul Reaver to kill the Elder God, he had no choice but to trick Kain into killing him to absorb and gain the power needed to challenge the doomed fate of Nosgoth.
Ninja'd. Totally, I even teared up then, we knew it would come to pass, but didn't want to believe it anyway.

Mine would be in the first Metal Gear Solid
Grey Foxes death, from the point of where he tries to stop Liquid to his last moment.

Every single one of the Dead Space special kills, both the ones you do (infector kill especially) and the ones you get killed by (hunter kill especially.)

Although for actual deaths I would have to go with Noble Six, although you dont EXACTLY see him being killed, so therefore....HE LIVES!

My friends love watching Polka die in Eternal Sonata. They hate that character, and love to see her die. Continuously.

The death of Orochi in Okami. Orochi, if you don't know, is actually the first of four Big Bads of the game. The reason why I think he has the best death scene is because it's one of the biggest Crowning Moments of Awesome I have ever known in my 23-ish years of being alive.
For those of you who haven't played Okami, I'd love nothing more than to describe to you the whole scene, but I just don't think words could do it justice. You could look it up on Youtube, but I think even that would be woefully inadequate to convey just how packed with nipple-exploding awesomeness Orochi's death is.

...Dammnit. You just spoiled HL2EP2, didn't you?

For me, personally it probably has to be:

Noble 6. That was easily the best death scene I've every had the pleasure to play.
Definitely that Halo Reach one.

And while you mentioned Halo Reach, I like deaths of grunts when you shoot their methane tanks. They spin, shoot off into the sunset, and explode like fireworks. They may not be the best deaths in gaming, but they are the funniest.
Certainly. I loved doing that when I killed grunts. It's one of the most fun things in Reach.

You beat me to it....
But still:

Oh my yes, a million times yes.

The fact that it was playable and the fact that Noble six was the character I designed made me feel a personal attachment to the character that subsequently made his death freaking hard to watch, and the cracks on the visor and the red coloring and the muting of sound and the slow motion as he stumbles drunkenly, very wounded, back into battle only to get knocked to the ground and ultimately slain... it was very powerful stuff.
Still, served him right for being a Spartan standing in the way of the mighty Sangheili onslaught.

So yes, I agree with you. But you beat me to the post, so for honor's sake I must now kill you.

*Pulls you to the floor and stabs you in the throat with energy sword.*

My favorite death ever.
*snip*

Also, Sovereign's death in Mass Effect, he's this god-like warship who thinks the sentient life his buddies 'harvest' are a bunch of miserable, silly, squishy mortals. then balm! He gets blown to pieces, ha! Can't wait for Harbinger to meet the same fate, in fact, I bet there will be a part in ME3 where some Reapers will come along, see Shepard, then start running back to Dark Space before Shepard finds some scripted means of killing them with only some difficulty.
You actually reminded me about ME1. At the very end, with a high enough persuade or intimidate and you

talk Saren down. His suicide is shocking. My mouth hung open when I played that part.

Edit: Cleaning up quotes.

Well done sire, you get the award for the first person ever to ninja me, congratulations! True though, I teared up a little, but he went out in pure style.

I like the death in Morrowind at about five minutes in. It's just so random!

Shinjiro's death scene, it was awesome because it was realistic. Also it worked extremely well part of the story along with the gameplay (In persona, the characters don't die in battle they fall unconscious, so there is no item to bring back the dead). Along with his last words "This is how it should be." That's just badass

Start playing Resident Evil 4.

Beat resident evil 4.

Inbetween those two sentences are my favorite death scenes ever.

(Chainsaw to the head, acid from flying insects to the face, the quick-time-event battle between Krauser, and any of the random plagas that can eat your head off if you so much as get semi-close to them)
Well they had to make the death scenes entertaining for how many times you die in that game, unfortunately it made me feel like dieing wasn't a punishment since I got to see how I would die next.

@EHKOS: You mean that guy who tests out this new spell he made? Yeah that one's awesome ^^

I also love the "death" scene in Psychonauts, in the level "Basic Braining" right at the beginning. "Chaaaaaarge!"

If were're talking about serious death scenes here I'll say the ending of Planescape Torment. I mean you know the entire game that it's your goal to be able to die and that you're almost looking forward to it, but the ending is just so cruel and unfair, even if you manage to get the "best" ending. One of the few scenes in videogames that I found to be really touching.

God of War III, all of the boss kills. From (and this is spoiler but I assume that by now most people who are going to play the game either have played the game or won't and don't care or already know) 1st person killing Posiden, to ripping the Soul from Hades, to taking down the monsterous Kronos, to the final boss fight where you
kill Gaia with the sword stabbing her heart with Zeus between you and the heart
and all in between. That game was ABOUT the bosses and the over the top kills
