So, I was playing Silent Hill: Homecoming, and while the atmosphere of the 'Hell' level was alright, you would routinely have to fight off bugs. Bugs! Hell has a roach problem! Additionally, the final boss in Hell is a little girl's doll. Truly awful.

My question is, what would you guys say was the best depiction of Hell? It could be in video games/movies/tv, whatever.

Any version of 'Hell' I don't care if it is accurate or whatever, I am not religious, I am just asking what is the coolest.

ghouls and ghosts, when you get to the end of the game you realise that you have to start from the begining again and complete it all over again, and by the way there are no saves.
That was my idea of hell. F**K YOU CAPCOM.

I have to go with Layzor, Paradise Lost was probably the best ever.

No no, you've got that backwards. In real life the Internet is Hell.

OT: Diablo II had a pretty good representation.

This hell was pretty convincing.

Where's that from?
Constantine to the best of my knowledge.

OT: I'm not really sure, I'd have to say that it was some kind of tapestry, or other form of picture that was made in (I think) norman-ish times, that I've seen a couple of times, and was pretty accurate to my mental image of hell, but I can't remember what it was called or when it was made other than 900 BC- 1300 BC

Nothing. A blank page.

The concept of hell as in a place where people with "incorrect" values go to and suffer is a disgusting and stupid idea.

The concept of hell as a very unfriendly place that would be nigh impossible to survive or some place designed to personally offend the visitor's deepest values could be anything depending on situation and pretty subjective overall if you go into the realms of science fiction/fantasy and include non-human races into the equation.

I refuse to associate symbols from a religion that I oppose with the idea that I find pretty damn stupid, so no fire and shit.

Greeks' Hades had some funny moments, like the dude with the rock, but it's still opposes my views, so meh.

I'll go with "A place you, or the average member of your species, would find nigh-unsurvivable and hostile towards you"
